Senior project architect

Pencil and Brick is looking for a senior project architect for the private residential sector to join its team in London.

Pencil and Brick is an award-winning, architect-led design and build practice specialising in residential renovations and extensions across North and East London.

The practice is a RIBA Chartered Practice and actively involved with the Federation of Master Builders. The company is driven by strong principles and is committed to transforming homes and improving lives through thoughtful, high-quality design and construction.

Particulars:

  • salary : £45k – £50k, experience-appropriate, industry benchmarked salaries will be offered to successful candidates
  • working location: currently our Brick Lane office, 6 Links Yard, London E1 5LX
  • 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday; flexible with common hours 9am to 6pm
  • probation period: three months
  • employee benefits (subject to change)

Who we are looking for:

  • a really good fit in our team, the culture we’re nurturing and someone who has a real passion for the job and the sector
  • a full-time talented ARB-registered architect, who has already at least five years in UK practice as a post-ARB registration architect, with significant full-time experience in another practice

Key duties:

  • all reasonable senior project architect tasks
  • coordinating design team obligations and resourcing with the design team lead
  • review of surveys, concept and developed designs, planning submissions, technical design, building regulation submissions and supporting construction site work
  • production of designs and technical information via CAD, specifications, presentation documents
  • support and mentoring of staff junior to you
  • engaging and innovating with senior management, to assist with company wide improvements
  • presenting and managing the customers experience, being a positive ambassador for the company
  • assisting the site team with technical design input

Requirements

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • someone who demonstrates our values
  • UK or Ireland educated or significantly experienced
  • at least in one university degree a good or above grade: e.g. distinction, merit, 1st, 2:1; arguments in the absence of hitting this mark will be heard
  • be ARB registered with at least a minimum of five years’ experience in another practice in the UK
  • private residential experience is a must
  • project architect experience is a must
  • be someone who continuously develops themselves, furthering self-awareness; mature beyond your years and you excel in knowing yourself, you have a command over your unwanted habits and automatic behaviours
