D Stainer-Hutchins Architects is hiring a senior architect to join its team in Gloucestershire, UK.

D-Stainer-Hutchins Architects is a Cotswold-based design practice that specializes in a wide range of projects including historic building conservation and eco-architecture.

The practice is seeking a talented Part 3 qualified architect for an immediate start to support an increasing workload. The position will require the candidate to run several jobs independently and communicate with all stakeholders within each project. It will include the direct management of at least 1 junior draftsperson.

This practice has been in business for over 40 years and is looking for an exceptional individual to join, initially, as a senior architect with a view to taking on the management and eventually the ownership, of the firm over a series of negotiated stages. This position, therefore, is ideal for ambitious and experienced architects in search of opportunities to develop their own practice.

The successful candidate must be able to work on a diverse range of projects, including listed historic buildings, country houses and churches through to municipal and public buildings.

In order to apply, it is essential that potential candidates meet the following criteria:

  • RIBA Part 3 qualified
  • current ARB registration/qualification
  • proven experience of working at pace and simultaneously delivering a wide range of projects
  • excellent communication skills (written, verbal and drawn) with the confidence to liaise directly with a wide range of stakeholders, including clients
  • be proficient in AutoCAD and ArchiCAD. Additional skills such as 3D modelling and rendering are an advantage; proficiency in SketchUp, Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator are of interest
  • have good construction technical detailing skills
  • have sound knowledge of UK building regulations approved documents and planning policy and legislation
  • have good experience of all RIBA Plan of Work stages
  • be self-motivated, organised and an enthusiastic team player
  • live within a commutable distance of Stroud, Gloucestershire and hold a valid UK driving license
  • be a UK resident or hold an appropriate work permit
  • salary is negotiable depending on skills and experience
