Who we are looking for

The technical designer is a new role within N Family Club. As part of the in-house design team, the successful candidate will be involved in the delivery and maintenance of our bespoke nursery schools, working on projects ranging from heritage/listed building renovations to new-build shell and core fit-outs.

You will be responsible for providing technical architectural design services, primarily focused on-site during the construction phase (RIBA Stages 4-7). UK-based delivery experience at tender and construction stage is requisite, along with a good working knowledge of the current building and CDM Regulations.

The position is hybrid/field-based, with a requirement to attend regular site visits (primarily around London and southeast England, with some further afield). You will be expected to work from the London office approximately two days per week (with a flexible approach depending on project demand).

You will be directly involved in the growth of the business and should be driven by the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment. You should have strong time management skills, with capacity to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Key responsibilities and tasks:

  • developing technical information for tender and construction at RIBA Stages 4-7
  • attending on-site surveys/DTMs/post-occupancy visits
  • working closely with key consultants/contractors to coordinate technical elements
  • assisting with planning applications and approvals
  • preparing record information/handover packs to support post-occupancy maintenance and operation

Experience/qualification:

  • qualification in architecture/technical design (Part 2/qualified architect preferred), or minimum of three years’ relevant experience in an equivalent role
  • strong technical skills with the ability to produce architectural drawings with a high level of detail and accuracy
  • experience delivering tender and construction packages
  • proficiency in AutoCAD/Sketchup/MS Office/Google Suite/Adobe Suite; Revit or BIM experience is desirable but not essential
  • in-depth knowledge of manufacturing standards, materials and construction methods including UK Building Regulations and CDM
  • full driving licence and access to your own car is desirable
