Adam Richards Architects is seeking an experienced project architect to join its team in West Sussex, UK.

ARA is a multi-award winning creative practice with a wide ranging portfolio of projects including arts, cultural, heritage, educational and residential schemes.

We are currently looking for a highly motivated project-runner architect with good detailing and creative skills and with previous experience of working on existing and listed buildings, as well as bespoke new builds. The right candidate will have a track record of delivering high-quality RIBA Stage 4 packs and of successfully acting as contract administrator at RIBA Stages 5 and 6.

The position would include a high level of autonomy and responsibility, taking a lead on projects of varying scales – with the potential to have a senior role in the practice. As you will be based out of our rural West Sussex studio, access to your own transport will be essential and a degree of WFH will be possible. Part-time positions may be considered for the right candidate.

Essential skills or experience: 

• project architect with at least five years’ experience of working successfully across all RIBA stages, especially stages 4, 5 and 6
• excellent design and technical abilities
• design-led project running with good communication skills
• efficient and effective in managing your time and that of others; project resourcing
• a thorough knowledge of technical detailing and specification; successful at delivering working drawing/information packages for tender and construction works
• sound knowledge of UK building regulations
• experience with historic buildings
• excellent numeracy, written and spoken English
• a passion for and knowledge of high-quality architecture and design

Desirable skills or experience: 

• Vectorworks
• NBS specification and contract administration software
  SketchUp
• InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
• experience with sustainable technologies
• principal designer role
