Project interior designer

As we grow our team, we are seeking an experienced project designer, a dynamic and dedicated individual with a wealth of experience, capable of efficiently managing and contributing to multiple projects concurrently. With a focus on luxury hospitality design, including F&B, we are looking forward to the opportunity to welcome a new member to our friendly, creative, collaborative and innovative team.

Responsibilities include

Technical software:

  • demonstrate proficient use of AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign, SketchUp, MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat & Zoho Projects
  • exhibit a flexible approach to learning new software

Concept and design development:

  • assist in the development of concepts that provide an original, appropriate and effective solution to the creative brief
  • assist with drawing production ensuring that the highest standard drawings are produced by the team and studio requirements are followed
  • provide superior project administration: filing, sourcing suppliers, managing incoming and outgoing drawings, presentation boards etc.
  • proactively participate in internal team meetings and creative reviews
  • assist in researching, selecting and collating appropriate and fit-for-purpose finishes, sanitaryware and hardware
  • assist in the development and preparation of scheme designs

Production detail and schematic design:

  • negotiate, coordinate and liaise with suppliers ensuring that all specifications and deliveries are met on time and within budget and to the best possible quality
  • schedule and communicate all costs and specifications internally and externally
  • oversee purchase orders, specification sheets and control books for all requirements
  • generate alternative solutions when problems arise and seek approval
  • communicate effectively with key team members and clients

Design management and project coordination:

  • support the director/senior designer/project designer with concept development
  • ensure the operational functionality of designs produced by the team
  • strive to produce work of a consistently high standard that is recognised both internally and externally
  • communicate complex ideas and layered designs with clarity and logic
  • implementation and project coordination
  • co-ordinate and liaise with contractors, sub-contractors, local authorities and all other relevant personnel
  • prepare and submit planning applications, tender documentation and licensing drawings
  • ensure quality control through regular site visits and record progress

Deliverables and reporting:

  • advise management on deliverables and check the quality of the work produced by the team
  • prepare stage approval documents and generate drafts for creative director to review
  • ensure timesheets are completed accurately each week
  • manage own workload and the workload of the team, ensuring deadlines are met
  • communicate effectively and in good time to the senior designer/associate designer if deadlines are at risk
  • monitor cost issues as they arise and propose alternative solutions
  • push and develop the design brief to deliver outstanding design and client value
  • review shop drawings and sign off draft 1
  • mentor other members of the studio in design tools, software and filing

Reports to: senior designer/director
Managing: hospitality and residential projects from concept to completion
Location: hybrid
Workplace: 3.2, Building A4, 10 Monro Way, Design District, London, SE10 0EJ
Hours: 9:00 – 18:00 Monday – Friday
Contract type: fixed-term/permanent
Experience: six-plus years design/project management/supervisory role
