Mid-weight interior designer
at Al Ghalia
Al Ghalia is looking for a mid-weight interior designer to join its team in Bahrain.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for design, a keen eye for detail, and a strong understanding of the hospitality industry.
Responsibilities:
- collaborate with the design team to develop creative and innovative interior design concepts for F&B spaces
- create mood boards, material palettes and design presentations for client approval
- select and source furniture, lighting, textiles and accessories that align with the project budget and design concept
- manage FF&E procurement and installation process, ensuring all items meet quality standards and project timelines
- liaise with vendors, suppliers and contractors to acquire necessary materials and services
- coordinate with architects, engineers and other design professionals to ensure FF&E design integrates seamlessly into the overall project design
- review and approve FF&E drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements
- produce drawings to the highest standard – technical drawings for issue to clients, contractors and joiners
- confident reading, commenting on and drafting technical plans, elevations, sections and details, as well as designing fitted joinery and bespoke furniture
- managing incoming and outgoing drawings and filing them immediately according to the established filing system
- sourcing and procurement of furniture, lighting, artwork and accessories and recording all details of FF&E schedules
- manage subcontractors to include window dressing, garden designers, upholstery, framing and others as needed on projects
- requesting shipping quotes and managing the shipping process through to the installation
- working with contractors and suppliers to ensure the design and quality are executed as per specifications
- prepare and manage comprehensive project schedules
- assist in researching, selecting, and collating appropriate finishes, sanitary ware and hardware that support the design
- competent in taking meetings and site visits without a line manager
- populate weekly client presentations with mood boards, latest drawings, FF&E presentations
- helping with project installs, styling and photoshoots
- support across the administrative aspects of a project e.g.: filing, source suppliers, managing incoming and outgoing drawings and catalogue presentation boards
Requirements:
- bachelor’s degree in interior design or related field
- three to five years’ experience in interior design with a focus on FF&E, preferably in the F&B industry
- proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite and other design software
- strong knowledge of furniture, lighting and material specifications
- excellent communication and presentation skills
- ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively
