About you

The role is part of the practice’s senior management team and plays a key part in the strategic planning of the organisation and leadership of the team. With abundant design experience and a portfolio of highly successful schemes, the candidate balances creativity and technical knowledge with strategic vision and the ability to motivate and inspire those around you.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced associate architect. The successful candidate will co-lead our architecture division, ensuring seamless integration with our interior team. The candidate will excel particularly in the initial stages (RIBA Stages 1-4) while maintaining involvement throughout all RIBA stages. This role requires strong leadership, and design excellence both from an architectural and interior perspective. The candidate should have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The projects would focus on commercial residential/built-to-rent and commercial offices. The candidate should have experience pitching to clients, agents and industry individuals.

Key responsibilities

Leadership and management:

  • lead the architecture team of architectural assistants, providing guidance, mentorship, direction and oversight
  • coordinate with the interior team to ensure cohesive project delivery
  • manage client relationships, ensuring clear communication and satisfaction
  • active business development and management of new client relationships

Project involvement:

  • oversee and contribute to all stages of project development
  • stay actively involved in projects through all RIBA stages, ensuring design integrity and quality control

Design and development:

  • develop innovative design concepts and strategies
  • conduct site visits, feasibility studies and design documentation
  • ensure projects adhere to all relevant regulations, codes and standards

Collaboration and coordination:

  • work closely with clients, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders
  • facilitate effective communication among project teams
  • manage project timelines, budgets and resources efficiently

Quality assurance:

  • ensure high standards of design, sustainability and technical excellence
  • review and approve project deliverables, drawings and specifications
  • conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and address any issues

Qualifications and skills:

  • professional degree in architecture (Master’s preferred) from an accredited institution
  • minimum of eight years’ experience in architecture, with a significant portion in a leadership role
  • proven track record in business development and client relationship management
  • demonstrated work in managing and delivering high-quality architecture and interior projects from retrofit, new build and massing
  • extensive experience in RIBA Stages 1-4, with continued involvement in all project stages
  • technical proficiency and attention to detail
  • effective communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • strategic vision and leadership: develop and articulate a clear vision, inspiring and motivating the team
  • excellent presentation skills and ability to build strong rapport and trust with clients
  • proficiency in relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Microsoft Office)
  • ability to implement and manage change initiatives effectively, fostering adaptability and resilience within the team
