About you
As a senior interior designer, you will lead the conceptualization and implementation of high-quality interior design projects, working across sectors and with our team of architects and interior designers. You will be responsible for creating innovative and functional designs that meet client requirements and enhance their spaces. Your role involves collaborating with clients, managing design teams, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Your role will report to the Head of Design, supporting and driving projects forward across the sectors of commercial offices and Build to Rent.
Key responsibilities
Design leadership:
- lead the development of design concepts and detailed designs
- provide creative direction and ensure design integrity throughout the project
- stay updated with industry trends, materials and innovations
- experience presenting/pitching to clients and creating pitch documentation
Client collaboration:
- understand client needs and preferences through direct consultations
- present design concepts and plans to clients, incorporating feedback to refine designs
- maintain strong client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and addressing concerns promptly
Project management:
- oversee multiple projects from conception to completion
- develop project timelines, budgets, and resource allocations
- coordinate with contractors, architects and other professionals to ensure project feasibility and compliance with design specifications
Team management:
- mentor and guide junior designers, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment
- assign tasks and manage the workload of the design team
- provide constructive feedback and help juniors develop their skill sets
Technical expertise:
- create detailed drawings, plans and specifications using CAD and other design software
- ensure all designs comply with safety, regulatory and environmental standards
- evaluate and select materials, furniture and fixtures suitable for the project
Quality assurance:
- conduct site visits to ensure the design implementation aligns with the approved plans
- address any design issues that arise during construction or installation
- ensure final deliverables meet the highest standards of quality and aesthetics
Qualifications:
- bachelor’s or master’s degree in interior design, architecture or a related field
- a minimum of five to seven years’ professional interior design experience, with a portfolio showcasing diverse and high-quality projects
- proven experience in leading and managing design teams
Skills and competencies:
- proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite and other relevant tools
- strong creative and conceptual skills with an eye for detail
- excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- strong organizational and project management abilities – ability to manage multiple projects
- knowledge of building codes, regulations and sustainability practices
- creative and innovative thinker – how do you challenge the norm
- strong leadership and decision-making skills
- in-depth knowledge of suppliers, finishes and general FF&E
- ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- adaptable and open to feedback
- passionate about design and continuous learning
