Administration/finance manager
at AFL Build

AFL Build has an opportunity for an administration/finance manager to join its team in London.

We are a central London based contractor with an architect-led design and build service. We work alongside Architecture for London, an award-winning architecture practice dedicated to the creation of inspirational and sustainable architecture and interiors.

We are looking for an administrator/finance manager with experience in the UK residential construction industry.

The ideal candidate should be looking to build experience and responsibility.

You will be part of a thriving design and build company that values sustainability and innovation. Working closely with the award-winning Architecture for London practice, you will gain invaluable experience and exposure to the construction and architecture industries.

Responsibilities will include:

  • managing the business finances
  • purchasing
  • project management support

Finance:

  • liaising with accountants
  • invoicing clients
  • assisting with production of quotes
  • assisting to prepare fee proposals, payment schedules, forecasts and accounts
  • thorough understanding of CIS and construction VAT desired
  • previous experience of using WorkFlowMax and Xero is strongly beneficial

Purchasing:

  • arranging quotes
  • checking and settling suppliers and subcontractors’ invoices
  • building relationships with suppliers

Project management:

  • supporting senior team with managing construction schedules and programmes
  • supporting construction site teams
  • we use project management software Buildertrend
  • liaising with clients
  • organising meetings
  • assisting with preparing contracts
  • document control

Other tasks:

  • help ensure that the company complies with statutory obligations, including health and safety
  • organisation of site team training
  • prepare and edit documents, reports and letters
  • supporting the senior team in business development

Essential skills:

  • a solid knowledge of Excel/Google Sheets
  • excellent organisational skills
  • strong communicator
  • high standard of written and spoken English
  • proactive and logical approach to problem-solving
  • ability to meet deadlines and prioritise workloads

Preferred skills:

  • experience in a similar role, preferably within residential construction in London
  • interest in architecture
  • interest in sustainability
  • knowledge of Adobe InDesign
  • experience in IT support

Salary will be commensurate with ability and experience. We are a London Living Wage employer.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK and will be based at our studio in Farringdon.

Full-time preferred, but willing to consider part-time.
