London, UK
Architect/Part 2 assistant
at Ash Sakula
Ash Sakula is seeking an architect/Part 2 assistant to join its team in London.
Do you want to rethink how the UK builds homes? Interested in doubling density, reimagining retrofits, and co-designing with communities?
We’re looking for a hands-on, design-led architect to join our small, ambitious studio. If you’re a confident all-rounder who can jump between masterplans, hand-drawn reports, feasibility sketches, retrofit details, and creative campaigns, read on.
The role
You’ll be working across an eclectic and rich mix of projects including:
- a co-design-led project, running workshops and building trust
- neighbourhood feasibility studies: designing and drawing plans and site strategies quickly and imaginatively
- our ongoing campaign to double housing density with people-first, gentle urbanism
- house retrofits: overseeing sensitive, low-carbon transformations of existing homes
- marketing and comms: helping us express what we do, online and in print visually and verbally
- exploration of bio-based materials: helping push our knowledge and application of hemp, timber, lime and circular construction
- daily studio life: bringing energy, initiative, self-direction and warmth to a collaborative, politically-minded team
We need someone with:
- Part 2 (qualified or not) architect with UK project experience
- a super confident sketcher and communicator, both by hand and digitally
- an ability to develop design ideas at all scales
- perhaps experience but most importantly excitement for running co-design workshops and communicating with non-architects
- comfort in managing your own time, tasks, and projects in a small team
- flair for writing, drawing and packaging reports that feel like design artefacts
- a commitment to housing justice, design innovation, and the Ash Sakula way: quirky, convivial, resourceful
What you’ll find here
Ash Sakula is an award-winning, values-driven architecture practice working at the edge of urbanism, development, and design. We balance seriousness of purpose with informal, creative energy.
You’ll have the space to grow your voice, pursue curiosities, and take real ownership of work that matters all in a studio where sketching, conversation, and care are essential tools of the trade.
