We are now seeking a skilled and detail-oriented technical designer to join our team, bringing concept designs to life through precise technical drawings and expert knowledge of construction and production methods.
Role overview
As a technical designer you will be a crucial link between the design and manufacturing teams, ensuring that our creative visions are realised with technical accuracy and excellence.
You’ll be responsible for developing detailed technical drawings, working closely with the concept design team and liaising with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure our projects are executed to the highest standards.
Your expertise in construction techniques and production methods will be instrumental in supporting both Aylott and Van Tromp and its sister agency, Nokken on a variety of high-end hospitality projects.
Key responsibilities:
- produce accurate, detailed technical drawings for high-end hospitality interiors, supporting the design team from concept to completion
- collaborate with designers to translate conceptual ideas into practical, buildable solutions
- ensure technical drawings align with industry standards, construction techniques and project specifications
- liaise with manufacturers, suppliers and contractors to ensure clear communication and smooth project execution
- develop drawings and details for custom furniture, fixtures and finishes, considering both aesthetics and functionality
- provide expertise on construction methods, materials and production techniques to ensure designs are feasible and efficient
- conduct site visits when necessary to support the implementation and oversee the accuracy of design execution
- manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and project timelines are met without compromising on quality
- stay informed of the latest technologies, materials and innovations in construction and manufacturing to bring fresh insights to the team
Key requirements:
- bachelor’s degree in technical design, interior design, architecture or a related field
- four to eight years of experience as a technical designer or drafter, ideally within the hospitality or interior design sectors
- proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp and other technical drawing software
- solid understanding of construction techniques, materials and production methods
- experience liaising with manufacturers and contractors, with an ability to interpret and communicate technical details effectively
- strong problem-solving skills and a meticulous eye for detail
- excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- knowledge of building regulations, standards and best practices in construction
- a portfolio or examples of work demonstrating experience in creating technical drawings for high-end interior projects
