Be First is seeking a senior landscape architect to join its team in London.

Be First is a pioneering urban regeneration company wholly owned by Barking and Dagenham Council and operating independently. Our mission is to capitalise on the borough’s position as London’s best investment and development opportunity to accelerate growth. We aim to help deliver 50,000 new homes and 20,000 jobs in the next 20 years.
This is an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious team as part of a pioneering urban regeneration company. You will be working on a mix of projects ranging from our small sites programme to large estate regeneration projects and town centre mixed-use developments.
The Be First design team brings architecture, urban design, landscape architecture and sustainability expertise to all Be First projects to deliver sustainable and bold design that brings joy to residents of the borough. The team is embedded within Be First and works across strategy, design and guardianship.
The senior landscape architect will bring a passion for creating high quality and durable public realm including new parks, play areas, streets and green infrastructure.
The role will involve working on and leading strategic visions, masterplans and feasibility studies within the borough, ensuring high quality and ambitious landscape proposals are embedded into Be First projects. As well as leading and contributing to early stage design work, the responsibilities will include acting as design guardian for Be First projects. This will involve writing project briefs, attending design team meetings and reviewing drawing packages.
The landscape architect should have experience of working at varying scales across RIBA work stages. This should include site analysis, landscape led area visions, layouts and masterplans as well as an understanding of landscape and external work details, ecology, biodiversity, planting and SUDs. Part of the role will include reviewing planning applications made in the borough.
We are looking for a senior landscape architect with five to ten years’ experience with a range of skills and attributes including:
- demonstrates a clear passion for public sector led housing delivery and placemaking
- a passion for high quality and sustainable design
- experience of working on complex projects in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver innovative and sustainable public realm projects
- demonstrable development experience across all RIBA stages
- landscape qualification
- outstanding design skills and proficiency in Autocad, sketchup and Adobe design suite. Revit skills are a plus
- produce high quality drawings, illustrations and presentations
