Big Mamma Group is seeking a junior architectural technician to join its team in London.

We are offering the opportunity to work on iconic and highly creative projects with full involvement in the feasibility of projects working closely with acquisitions, the operational team and design studio to create efficient restaurant layouts and back of house CAD drawings.

With new openings scheduled in seven countries in the next three years, this is an exciting time to join and be involved in the growth and success of the company as well as having scope for personal development and growth.

Experience

One to three years’ experience as architect/interior architect/architectural technician with a passion for hospitality design and a high proficiency of technical drawings in AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

AutoCAD drawings:

The architectural technician will work on several projects and support the team on feasibility studies of new potential sites, starting by creating first floor plans and refining these to deliver a strong spatial plan which meets the creative vision and operational conditions while adhering to budget and technical constraints. The role has the opportunity to expand with experience gained with brand & operational understanding.

The feasibility studies cover the following subjects:

  • BOH-FOH ratio
  • local application process
  • heritage conservation if applicable
  • building services
  • acoustic insulation
  • customer, staff and delivery routes to and within the premise
  • space planning of back of house areas (kitchen, prep area, wash-up, stores, office, staff facilities etc.)
  • identification of the best bar and kitchen location
  • indicative restaurant furniture layout to determine the approximate cover count

Benchmark documents and data base

The candidate will also help with administrative tasks such as:

  • management of incoming information and filing system
  • assist team with meeting minutes, meeting scheduling etc.
  • assist team with production of InDesign presentations
  • maintain and refine Big Mamma drawing standards in AutoCAD
  • maintain benchmark documents holding existing restaurant information
  • maintain and add to the Global Big Mamma building guidelines

Skills:

  • a high level of AutoCAD is a must
  • proficient in SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and InDesign) and Microsoft Office
  • strong freehand sketching abilities

Abilities:

  • good communication skills
  • work well under pressure and to deadlines
  • work well individually as well as a team
  • pragmatic with good problem-solving skills
  • good initiative and ability to follow instructions

This is a very busy, hands-on role which will suit somebody who is genuinely hard-working and creative. You will be working as part of a friendly and collaborative team, where your input and ideas will be expected and welcomed.

Start date: ASAP

Full-time, permanent employment.

Annual salary £30,000 to £35,000 depending on experience

Location: Soho, London and traveling to sites and in our restaurants is required
