Build Studios has an opportunity for a community manager to join its team in London. 

Build Studios, the built environment co-working space, is looking to recruit a community manager to help develop the brand and grow the community and events programme.

Build Studios is the first co-working space in the UK to focus on the whole built environment, with members across architecture, planning, development, property tech, interior and landscape design choosing to work from the site.  The community manager will be responsible for members’ experience, growing the community and enabling connections and collaborations between members, partners and stakeholders.

The role

  • grow the community and membership and enable connections between members and partners
  • responsible for managing relationships with members, prospective members, visitors, stakeholders and partners
  • management of social media, online content and communication campaigns
  • create engaging copy, image and in-house video content for use across our digital channels
  • organise and participate in events to boost brand awareness

Responsibilities:

  • member liaison and engagement, including face-to-face meetings and the development of the Build Studios member e-newsletter
  • a leading role in new member recruitment, and overseeing new member inductions
  • organise, promote and participate in events and workshops. Contribute to the development of  the forward events programme.  Work with partners, including The Museum of Architecture, Built By Us and Public Practice on the promotion of events and workshops
  • work closely with the executive director on opportunities to build relationship and partnerships, to grow the community and enable connections between the members
  • supporting the executive director with the delivery of communications and marketing activity, including gathering and maintaining contact information for members and prospective members.  Keeping the website up-to-date with current events and news
  • supporting the executive director to deliver board and advisory board meetings
  • overseeing monthly invoicing process, making adjustments where necessary and providing updates for the executive director and directors
  • overseeing the management of external contacts, including data and broadband, CRM software, IT support, waste and recycling, printers/photocopiers, utilities and building services e.g. air conditioning (day-to-day management by front of house)

Key attributes:

  • a self-starter; able to work under own initiative and as part of a small team
  • able to use initiative if (part-time) executive director is not available
  • a ‘people person’ confident in welcoming people to the workspace and providing excellent customer service to members and visitors. Calm in challenging situations and with challenging people; able to offer solutions to keep customers satisfied
  • strong written and verbal skills, enjoys copywriting
  • extremely organised and accurate, with a focus on preparation and pre-planning
  • an interest in the aims of the workspace and architecture/built environment would be an advantage

Ideal candidate:
