Computational Designer/Architect

Clover Studio is looking for an experienced computational designer to join our team in London, UK.
This role involves contributing to the design and delivery of a unique large international mixed-use project in the Middle East. The project includes diverse parkland, a museum, event spaces, co-working areas, retail, hospitality and indoor sports facilities.
This transformative project serves as an incubator for young talent, empowering small businesses, designers, and artists through innovative indoor and outdoor landscaped spaces. It incorporates advanced passive environmental strategies and cutting-edge parametric design approaches.
The successful candidate will join the studio at an exciting time of growth, with opportunities to contribute significantly to the practice’s creative and technical direction.
We offer both PAYE and consultancy-based engagements, full-time and in-person at our East London office, with an anticipated start date at the end of February or early March.
Key responsibilities
- lead and collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to develop the geometry of the shading structure and building envelope to enhance the environmental performance and buildability
- develop and optimise parametric models using tools such as Grasshopper and Rhino to explore, test and refine design solutions
- simulate and model tensile fabric structures, complex geometries and facades, developing structural and environmental performance alongside external consultants
- contribute to the management and mentoring of architectural designers, to help fosterer a culture of computational design innovation within the studio
- contribute to the production of high-quality presentation material and technical drawings
- help drive the integration of computational design processes into project workflows
Required skills and experience
- proficiency in computational design tools, particularly Grasshopper, Rhino, and Python or C# coding
- strong experience with parametric design, optimisation and the simulation of tensile fabrics, complex geometries and facade systems
- familiarity with tools for environmental analysis and sustainable design simulation (e.g., Ladybug, Honeybee, or similar)
- experience working on medium to large complex design projects
- proficiency in producing and delivering high-quality stage 3 to 4 documentation
- strong design and technical skills in both 2D and 3D
- knowledge of Enscape rendering software or other rendering software
- flexibility and a proactive, problem-solving approach to teamwork
- experience of integration and coordination of computation design into BIM models
Preferred attributes
- experience with integrating advanced fabrication techniques or digital workflows into project delivery
- experience working on international projects with different building codes and standards
- familiarity with innovative materials and sustainable construction techniques
- enthusiasm for embedding computational design into design concepts and team workflows
- proven ability to manage and lead junior designers
