David Lock Associates is recruiting a graphic designer to join its team in Milton Keynes, UK.
David Lock Associates is a long-established, highly respected and award-winning urban design and planning practice. Based in Milton Keynes for more than 35 years, we operate nationwide, assisting public and private sector clients in the creative endeavour of shaping geography, places and spaces for the enrichment of communities.
We are looking for a talented junior to middleweight graphic designer (three to five years’ experience) to support our urban designers and planners in the preparation of visual, drawn and design outputs. With a focus on Desktop Publishing (DTP) reports and designing materials for public exhibitions, the successful applicant will be joining our existing graphic design team who excel in illustrating place-making through captivating graphics.
Responsibilities:
- collaborate with urban designers and planners to create visually appealing DTP reports and presentation materials
- creation of project branding and identity
- design graphics and layouts for public exhibitions, ensuring the delivery of compelling and informative displays
- work closely with our lead graphic designers and visualisation specialists to provide valuable support
- develop a fresh and creative visual style to enhance the quality of our design materials
- adapt and evolve the role as you gain skills in creating masterplans and urban design diagrams
- participate in project team meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions to enhance the design process
Requirements
Essential:
- graphic design qualification or a related field
- proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- strong portfolio showcasing previous graphic design work
- excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for design aesthetics
- effective time management and multitasking skills to meet project deadlines
- effective communication and teamwork abilities
Advantageous:
- previous experience in a graphic design role related to urban design, architecture or planning
- knowledge of Wix Studio website designer or similar web design tools
- knowledge of print processes
- illustration skills
