Part-time finance controller
at Dezeen
Dezeen is looking for a part-time finance controller to join its team in London.
Dezeen is the world’s most influential architecture and design media brand with a readership of three million monthly readers and eight million followers on social media.
We are looking for a dedicated and meticulous finance controller to work three days per week, overseeing and managing our financial operations to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Reporting to the finance director, your key responsibilities include:
- reviewing bookkeeping for accurate financial reporting
- reconciling monthly sales by revenue channel including deferred income
- managing accounts payable and receivable
- completing month-end close for two companies (Dezeen Limited and Dezeen Inc) plus accruals, prepayments and month-end journals within three working days
- supervising the bookkeeper
- managing UK and US payroll processes
- preparing quarterly balance sheet reconciliations
- calculating and updating quarterly sales commissions, including updating calculation templates for individual sales team members
- processing supplier payments
- managing intercompany reconciliations
- maintaining fixed asset schedules
- review quarterly VAT returns
- assisting with group reporting and statutory accounts
- overseeing Xero and user access management
- training team members on finance procedures
- addressing ad hoc supplier and client queries
The successful candidate will be fully or part-qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with experience at a managerial level, including full responsibility for month-end management reporting.
The ideal candidate is well-organised, capable of working autonomously and collaboratively. You should excel in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating both flair and accuracy, and be proactive in problem solving and process improvement.
Expertise in Xero and proficiency with Excel/Google Sheets are essential. Strong communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English are required.
The position is based in London, United Kingdom, but offers flexible and remote working options. Availability around month-end to meet a strict reporting deadline (+4 days after month-end) is necessary.
