Part 1 architectural designer
at Do Ho Suh

Do Ho Suh is seeking a Part 1 architectural designer to join its team in London.

The London-based studio of artist Do Ho Suh is looking for a Part 1 architectural designer. This role requires close collaboration with the artist and studio team on a diversity of projects from start to completion. The candidate will be required to multi-task and to take a flexible approach to juggling workloads.

Requirements:

  • skilled in Rhino, VRay, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and knowledge of other Adobe Suite softwares
  • ideally have knowledge of Grasshopper and willing to develop skills with this programme
  • knowledge of Cinema4D (Octane render) desired and/or other similar softwares, such as Maya, Houdini, 3DS Max etc.
  • extremely organised and capable of juggling a busy workload
  • friendly and personable
  • an interest in art and creative approaches to architecture

Responsibilities include:

  • establishing design briefs (could include artwork or exhibition design)
  • sketching initial design ideas with the artist
  • researching materials, processes or market requirements
  • producing detailed final hand drawings and specifications and/or using dedicated computer software to produce design specifications, including costings
  • producing Rhino 3D models from 3D archival scans/mesh data
  • making samples or working models by hand or using computerised prototyping equipment
  • testing design concepts by computerised modelling or physical hands-on testing of models
  • liaising with external partners such as engineers and fabricators to discuss and negotiate appropriate production processes
  • producing prototypes
  • identifying the suitability and availability of materials. Co-managing architectural team’s supplies and organisation of space; liaising with the studio to order new supplies
  • aiding the studio team with administrative and day-to-day tasks as required

The role is based in the studio in N1, London, five days a week (9 to 5.30pm). Competitive salary and attractive benefits after 12 months of service.
