Interior architectural associate
at Elicyon

Elicyon is seeking an interior architectural associate to join its team in Singapore.

The interior architectural associate shall:

  • lead their project design team to successfully deliver high calibre projects with a strong creative eye and a practical approach
  • understand the quality of design output expected and champion bespoke design, technical excellence and innovative solutions aligned with this standard
  • work closely with the directors on leadership matters and the project management team to support project delivery. Regular liaison with the Elicyon team in the UK, ensuring seamless communication and alignment with project goals. Providing regular progress updates to the UK team, including site reports, meeting minutes and key decisions
  • run and oversee all architectural and technical elements of construction projects
  • be responsible for all the design work produced by their team and shall ensure it meets the company’s high standards of quality, timeliness and innovation
  • be responsible for the technical oversight of the concept design and ensure design proposals created by the design team are practical and buildable
  •  be responsible for the production of tender and construction drawing packages including the coordination of consultant information
  • work closely with the project manager in the tendering process and management of the main contractor
  • work closely with the project manager during contract administration and lead the RFI and shop drawing review process
  • lead project snagging and the construction handover process, readying site for the design team to install FF&E and dressing
  • lead the obtainment of statutory approvals, such as planning permissions, and work alongside the PM team to secure licenses to alter
  • lead, manage and mentor junior members of the architecture and design team
  • understand and contribute to the ambitions and values of the company and will have the appropriate skills to drive them forward in a proactive manner
  • support the directors in the management of client relationships
  • lead close collaboration with the local client team, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring project objectives are met
  • act as the key Elicyon representative, maintaining high standards of service and client satisfaction

To have the strong leadership and mentoring skills required to inspire and drive their team and to support the ebbs and flows of the studio’s workload. To have an excellent eye for design, the ability to lead the stylistic direction of projects and produce, as well as oversee the production of, immaculate design presentations.

Bespoke design

To have extensive experience in detailed bespoke joinery, luxury furniture & interior pieces. Strong knowledge on buildability and construction methods. To use their knowledge to lead the team’s creation and execution of bespoke design. Must have the ability to create innovative designs and technical skills to review tender and shop drawings.

Ownership

To be responsible for the complete lifecycle of the Architectural and Design scope of works from concept through to handover. Responsibility for production of architectural tender and construction drawings.

Reliability

To have the strong work ethic and commitment required to deliver outstanding luxury interior design projects to the highest quality within a dynamic environment.

Management

They will have a strong understanding of their team’s capabilities and strengths, and structure the frequency and nature of project reviews to ensure project deadlines are met and that projects are run in an organized and structured manner.

Quality control

To have an in depth understanding of luxury and ensure that everything from design presentations, site installations, FF&E items and dressing are executed to the highest standard.

Problem solving

To identify risk factors and catch problems early and to have a solutions-based approach rooted in good judgement, relating to projects, team and company as a whole.

FF&E procurement

To successfully oversee high value and complex FF&E packages on their projects.

Contract administration

Strong knowledge of construction administration procedures and contract knowledge. Understand the requirement needed to manage projects on budget.

Qualifications and experience:

  • to have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Interior Design or interior architecture
  • to have a minimum of eight years’ experience in luxury hospitality and high-end residential interior design including a minimum of four years on luxury projects in Singapore and some further international experience within international interior design studios
  • building code – strong knowledge of statutory bodies and approvals, building codes required and H&S legislation in Singapore
  • experience working and managing in BIM models, preferably ArchiCAD software, InDesign, Photoshop, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite. Sketch-Up and Esti­ PC skills would be useful but aren’t essential
  • fluency in English is essential and Mandarin is preferable
