Ennead Architects is seeking a senior interior designer to join its practice in New York.

Ennead Architects an award-winning internationally recognized architecture firm specializing in cultural and institutional projects. Our portfolio is diverse in typology, scale and location and includes new construction, renovation and expansion, historic preservation, interior design and master planning. We are seeking an experienced senior interior designer to join our firm.

The successful candidate should have the ability to lead the project team to conceptualize the interior design, sets the initial design direction along with the design principal and make critical decisions throughout the project while integrating programmatic requirements and client and user needs. This position requires active involvement in all phases of design from programming, concept, space planning, design development, detailing, documentation and involvement in construction administration, as well as FF&E selection, specification and procurement. This role has a considerable client and end-user interface.

What you can expect to do:

  • provide team leadership and organizational skills
  • must have space planning and conceptual design skills
  • development of layouts for typical rooms and space types and material palettes
  • responsible for graphic and material presentations for in-house and client meetings, construction documentation and coordination
  • responsible for coordination with CSI spec writer and programming with user groups for FF&E
  • extensive knowledge of furniture systems and materials appropriate for education, healthcare and institutional work and take on the responsibility for furniture budgets and specifications, bid packages
  • must be able to work on and manage multiple projects at various phases and the capacity to mentor and educate junior staff.
  • working knowledge of building systems, codes and ADA requirements

What we expect of you:

  • degree in interior design or interior architecture
  • minimum 15 years of relevant experience
  • strong organizational and leadership skills are essential and can maintain a professional and productive relationship
  • strong communication and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively with others
  • proficiency with computer-assisted design software such as Revit AutoCAD, Photoshop, Rhino, Illustrator and other design software experience is required.
  • NCIDQ and LEED/WELL accreditation preferred
