The role – mid-level interior designer
We are looking for a passionate mid-level interior designer to join our team based in East London. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is keen to make an impact, working closely with the founder and creative director to deliver a range of projects across the residential and commercial sector.
You will be liaising with clients and the creative director to help define and bring their vision to reality from concept to completion.
As a key member of a small team you will be involved in all elements of the design journey including:
- initiating, developing and presenting FF&E schemes. Including preparation of mood boards & materials, managing FF&E schedules and overseeing procurement including all associated administration
- overseeing installation, including associated schedules and on-site styling
- sourcing and designing bespoke joinery, managing the relationship with manufacturers to ensure design and quality control
- space planning, producing internal layouts and drawing packages throughout the project life-span – concept, costing and construction
- overseeing implementation of projects on site and contract administration
- building and maintaining excellent supplier and client relationships
- working directly with clients and providing a professional and reassuring pair of hands to guide them through the design journey
Experience
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic self-starter with a minimum of four-plus years’ experience across both residential and commercial projects.
The role will be freelance initially with a view to going permanent in the longer term. We are looking for a minimum of four days a week but will consider part time hours and flexible working for the right candidate.
The ideal candidate will have:
- creative flair and a keen eye for detail
- interior design degree or similar qualification
- excellent supplier knowledge and existing relationships
- experience of overseeing projects from concept to completion
- strong skills in software packages including AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign, SketchUp and/or other 3D tools as well as Excel, PowerPoint and Google sheets
- proven ability in spatial planning and developing drawing packages from concept to construction stages
- experience designing bespoke furniture and furnishings, including technical detailing
- proven ability to oversee FF&E procurement, sourcing and managing schedules
- understanding and experience with regulations and UK standards
- experience of running projects on site, including overseeing contracts and administrative requirements
- financial acumen and the ability to set and manage client budgets
- experience of working with budgets and tight deadlines
- have excellent communication and people skills and proven ability to manage and build effective client, contractor and supplier relationships
- most importantly, be friendly, enthusiastic and keen to get stuck in!
