Haworth Tompkins is recruiting a new business manager to join its team in London.
We are seeking a talented and passionate individual to join our London studio in October on a 12-month fixed-term contract for a maternity cover.
Founded in 1991 Haworth Tompkins is a Stirling Prize-winning studio of 100+ people, working across the culture, housing, mixed use, industrial, education and masterplanning sectors. We are an Employee Ownership Trust, a B Corp, founding members of Architects Declare and named the AJ100 Practice of the Year in 2020 and 2022.
The new business manager will work closely with the directors, to create and generate new business opportunities for the practice. We work across a range of sectors and bid experience for the public sector is essential.
Key responsibilities:
- manage the bid process from start to finish – coordinating all activities, monitoring progress, circulating and responding to tender portal communications and making sure deadlines are met
- act as first point of contact for new business enquiries
- maintain the new business schedule and review with the directors and new business team, supplying all information required for informed decision making
- monitor and manage tendering portals
- generate EOIs, PQQs, ITTs and other bid documents including writing, editing and graphic design – ensuring compliance throughout
- file all relevant submission documents, records and company information
- coordinate with internal and external contributors (e.g. consultants) to bid documents
- support staff with bids, reports and research tasks
- monitor and review tender notices, design competitions, invitations to tender and new business opportunities
- monitor submitted bids and ensuring feedback is gained and recorded
- analyse feedback and success rate of bid submissions
- prepare presentations in InDesign and PowerPoint
- coordinate tender workshops, site visits and interview prep sessions
- prepare interview presentations
- ensure specific tender briefing is disseminated to relevant staff members for review in a timely manner (ie, BIM documentation to BIM team, terms and conditions to quality management etc.)
Additional responsibilities:
- provide cover when the communications manager is absent and help to monitor press emails
- proofreading support for public office outputs
Required skills and experience:
- excellent communication skills for potential clients
- ability to communicate simply and clearly within the studio and with collaborators
- good verbal and written communication skills
- excellent reading comprehension and ability to summarise tender documents
- good graphic skills, with experience in using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
- proficient using Open Asset
