Herzog & de Meuron is looking for a design technologies BIM manager to join its team in Basel, Switzerland.

The main office in Basel works in tandem with studios in Berlin and Munich, Paris, London, Hong Kong, New York and San Francisco.

We are seeking a design technologies BIM manager to join our design technologies (DT) team in Basel immediately.

Your profile

Education and experience:

  • diploma or master’s degree in architecture (university of applied sciences or university)
  • minimum five years of experience in architectural practice and three years of hands-on BIM management across all project phases.

Technical expertise:

  • expert in Autodesk Revit and Computational Design (Rhino, Grasshopper); proficiency in coding is a plus (Python, Revit API, Dynamo)
  • experience with BIM coordination platforms (Autodesk Construction Cloud, Revizto) is an advantage

Leadership and collaboration:

  • strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills
  • ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate with diverse stakeholders
  • experience in mentoring and upskilling teams in digital design methodologies
  • fluency in English is required; German is an advantage

This role ensures the strategic development and implementation of BIM across all project phases. As a DT team member, you will refine digital workflows, establish best practices, and align BIM methodologies with design and execution goals. Working closely with architectural teams, consultants, and clients, you will optimise digital delivery and integrate global DT strategies.

As part of the larger design technologies team, we will connect the dots between BIM, computational design, visualisation, building performance simulation and digital fabrication, ensuring seamless integration across disciplines – driving innovation and shaping the future of digital design methods and processes.

Key responsibilities:

  • develop and implement BIM strategies to enhance project delivery.
    Research, test, and integrate new tools and workflows to advance digital design
  • lead workshops and training on BIM, computational design, and emerging technologies
  • support project teams in applying BIM from concept to construction.
  • ensure seamless collaboration between architects, project leaders and consultants
  • maintain and refine BIM standards for consistency across projects
