Herzog & de Meuron is looking for a project BIM lead to join its team in Basel, Switzerland.

Today, an international team of over 500 collaborators is engaged in a wide range of projects across Europe, the Americas and Asia. The main office in Basel works in tandem with studios in Berlin and Munich, Paris, London, Hong Kong, New York and San Francisco.
We are seeking a Project BIM lead to join our project teams in Basel.
Your profile
Education and experience:
- diploma or master’s degree in architecture (university of applied sciences or university)
- minimum three years of experience in architectural design and construction documentation
Technical expertise:
- expert knowledge of Autodesk Revit, including model structuring, content creation (families), and maintenance
- experience in organising, auditing, and cleaning models to ensure performance and compliance
- ability to enforce and monitor BIM standards and workflows within project teams
- proficiency in Dynamo and Rhinoceros is preferred
Leadership and collaboration:
- strong communication skills and a proactive, mentoring approach
- ability to bridge design agenda and BIM strategies in a project
- fluency in English is required, German is an advantage
As a BIM lead, you will be fully embedded in the project team, actively contributing to both design and digital workflows. You will play a key role in ensuring BIM methodologies enhance, rather than constrain, the design process, working closely with architects and project leadership.
Acting as the bridge between project teams and the design technologies (DT) group, you will implement BIM strategies, maintain quality control, and support team members in modeling, coordination, and documentation. Beyond technical execution, you will help integrate digital tools into the creative workflow, ensuring that design intent is preserved while leveraging the power of BIM.
This role offers flexibility to take on coordination or design tasks, depending on project needs and expertise. We are looking for a design-driven architect who is eager to advance digital excellence while staying engaged in the creative process.
Key responsibilities:
- implement and oversee BIM strategies within a project in collaboration with DT BIM Manager
- ensure and participate in delivery, documentation and quality control of models
- support team members with model structuring, coordination, and technical execution
- oversee project specific content adaption and creation
- facilitate knowledge transfer through mentoring and hands-on support
- collaborate closely with BIM Managers (DT) and project leadership
- participate in BIM knowledge exchange sessions within the office
