London, UK
Project architect/senior architect
at Holloway Li
Holloway Li is looking for an experienced project architect or a senior architect to join its studio in London.
The studio works primarily in the hospitality and private residential sectors, with a focus on interior architecture. This role specifically is to manage our growing residential sector projects in the UK – both retrofit and new-build in London and the countryside.
Our project teams are usually two to three people working together. We are currently a 14-person team in London.
The experience we can offer:
- design-led projects with good budgets – minimum £3m plus construction value
- well-managed office with good work-life balance (no late working culture)
- client interface opportunity
- collaborative working within a very talented team
- projects will have a built result
- we will invest our company knowledge and resource in your development, helping you to learn and grow and offer a clear pathway for future growth within the structure of the company
- opportunity for you to excel in a chosen specialism within our senior team
- you will work at different scales – designing bespoke pieces and products, whilst collaborating closely with our network of craftspeople to develop your personal knowledge of materials and processes
- you will be guided on how to deliver your designs, understanding the technical and practical requirements of your projects
- you will work closely with both company directors
- you will be exposed to and input on all aspects of our projects – from conceptual design thinking to creative strategy, design decisions, client management, project management, PR and beyond
- you will have hands-on site work and will see your creations come to life
- we rarely take on the role of CA or PM duties, so our projects tend to allow for a more creative and quality focused approach/less administrative than you would have typically find in the traditional architect role from Stage 5 onwards
- opportunity to expand the role to include work on our other sector specialisms in the future (hospitality, workplace and retail)
What we are looking for in prospective candidates:
- minimum of two-plus years post-Part 3 qualification
- Part 3 qualification from UK institution
- experience leading, chairing, programming and planning agendas for design team meetings with a large consultant team, unassisted through all project phases
- must have managed multiple projects from state to finish, to include all RIBA stages
- strong experience leading projects and teams to successfully deliver projects
- reporting and feedback to the internal and external project team
- detailed knowledge of UK procurement practice
- good knowledge of different contract types and protocols
- knowledge of how to ensure all project drawings are compliant with governmental health and safety regulations
- excellent technical design skills and knowledge, which allow you to push the design ambition
- excellent ability to produce drawn information and specifications, as well as review the work of others – there will be an expectation to draw within this role (est. 50:50)
- expert knowledge of idiosyncrasies of London residential refurbishment and permutations pertinent to performing the role with excellence
- good experience of client management
- good experience of consultant interface and communication
- excellent understanding of CAD software principles (2D and 3D plus Adobe CS and MS Office including Excel)
- ability to make intuitive decisions independently and quickly
