Honeycomb Houses & Brakspear is looking for a mid-weight interior designer – hospitality to join its team in Oxfordshire, UK.
We have an exciting opportunity to join our in-house interior design team in Henley on Thames. You will be joining a creative and friendly team focused on delivering beautiful pubs, restaurants and boutique hotel rooms. We have an estate of picturesque historic buildings, from thatched inns to high street townhouses. Our projects involve projects on the Brakspear tenanted pubs as well as our own managed houses, Honeycomb Houses. Our projects are exciting and varied and no day is the same. We are looking for a full-time interior designer with a love of hospitality and timeless interior design, as well as a can-do attitude and a minimum of three years’ experience in interior design – ideally within the hospitality industry.
The role – key responsibilities:
- working closely alongside the head of design throughout the design and development process from initial concept to final completion
- being responsible for multiple projects from design through to installation and styling
- creating and delivering concepts and presentations
- producing detailed interior, furniture and lighting drawings
- producing accurate details for bespoke joinery including bars
- delivering clear and accurate design information and schedules
- sourcing and specifying FF&E in keeping with the brief
- setting and tracking the designs according to set budgets
- attending site meetings as required and making design decisions where appropriate
- managing and coordinating onsite installs and dressing ready for handover
- establishing and maintaining excellent client and supplier relationships
- keeping abreast of interior design trends – in particular, hospitality design and rustic country interiors
Key attributes for the role:
- to qualify for this role you must possess proven experience as an interior designer with a strong portfolio showcasing previous design work
- a great team player with a positive approach who is also confident managing your own workload and projects
- experience of detailed working drawings and designs for bespoke joinery such as bars
- experience of working with teams of builders
- excellent communication skills
- strong attention to detail
- flexible, proactive and a positive approach to problem-solving – not afraid to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in
- excellent supplier and product knowledge
- ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Desired skills:
- experience in designing pubs/restaurants/hotels
- knowledge of current design trends
- experience of working with listed buildings
- proficiency in Vectorworks is essential as it will be the primary software used
- experience in designing hotel bedrooms and bathrooms
- understanding of relevant building regulations, commercial regulations and accessibility standards
- an understanding of hospitality operational requirements with experience in creating interiors that work well operationally as well as look great
