London, UK
Mid-weight interior designer
at Horizontal Design
Horizontal Design is seeking a mid-weight interior designer to join its growing London team.
About us
Horizontal Design, regarded as a representative of contemporary design, is home to a dynamic team of international young talents. Since its establishment in 2003, the studio has remained at the forefront of innovation, delivering thoughtful and refined design solutions across the disciplines of architecture, interior, landscape and product design.
Rooted in oriental culture, art, and philosophy, Horizontal Design explores the contemporary relevance of traditional culture. Each project is defined by its distinct identity and vibrant engagement with life.
While deeply connected to our cultural heritage, our presence in Europe offers a fresh source of inspiration. We believe that Eastern and Western design philosophies can coexist beautifully, enriching each other through contrast and dialogue. Both perspectives are equally relevant to the way we think, create, and design. Our London studio is an exciting platform for this cultural interplay — a place where innovation thrives through collaboration, diversity, and mutual respect.
The role
We are currently looking for a mid-weight interior designer with a strong architectural background to join our London team. This is a key role in a small, dynamic studio environment, offering a high level of design responsibility, creative freedom, and the opportunity to contribute to the shaping of a young but ambitious team.
Our ideal candidate is passionate about both architecture and interior design and is comfortable navigating the space between the two. You’ll work across all project stages, from concept to completion, and collaborate closely with our London-based team.
Skills and requirements:
- master’s degree in architecture or interior design (or a related field)
- minimum two years’ of professional experience in the UK is required – applications that do not meet this requirement will not be considered
- strong conceptual and design development skills, with a refined sense of materiality, spatial composition and detailing
- comfortable working across scales – from interior layouts and finishes to architectural coordination
- proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign), and other relevant design tools. Rhino is a plus
- a collaborative mindset – you thrive in a team environment, are open to critique, and ready to put the project’s success above personal ego
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- fluent in English
What we’re looking dor:
- someone who is equally comfortable discussing architectural form as selecting finishes or refining joinery details
- a designer who is curious, humble, and eager to learn – ready to grow with the team and take on increasing responsibility
- a self-starter who can work independently but thrives in a collaborative, feedback-driven culture
Working conditions
Please note that this is a full-time, office-based position. Working from the office five days a week is essential, and we do not currently offer a work-from-home or hybrid scheme.
Why join us?
- the chance to be part of a growing international studio with exciting cross-cultural projects and design ambitions
- high level of responsibility and creative input from day one
- open, supportive, and design-led studio culture
- opportunities to work closely with both founders and senior designers across continents
