CAD designer

Interbar is looking for a CAD designer to join its team in Bedfordshire, UK.
Interbar are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CAD technician to join our dynamic design consultancy. We have an established high-end client base, and we build bars for very prestigious venues within the UK and abroad. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, drafting and producing accurate technical drawings for bespoke Bar joinery projects. This position involves collaborating with interior designers and architects to create detailed drawings and will require a good understanding of joinery manufacturing processes.
Key responsibilities
Technical drawing and design:
- develop and produce high-quality CAD drawings and designs for bespoke bars for restaurants, members clubs and residential projects, ensuring precision and alignment with client specifications
- create 2D and 3D models and visualisations to assist in project presentations and client meetings
- develop production-ready technical drawings, including elevations, sections and assembly details
- issuing specifications and CAD drawings, as necessary for design development for joinery and site construction issue
- creating drawing packages at a fast pace, within tight time constraints and under pressure
- conduct site surveys to assess suitability, take measurements, document obstacles, and photograph the site
- serve as the main point of contact for clients, consultants, and sub-consultants, handling all correspondence throughout the project lifecycle
- managing jobs from the initial design stage to on-site completion in cooperation with the project manager
Quoting, invoicing and procurement:
- constructing detailed quotations using CRM software and issuing invoices (training provided)
- procurement of all components
Collaboration and communication:
- work closely with clients, designers and the production team to understand design requirements and translate them into accurate designs
- ensure all drawings comply with industry standards and regulations while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
Project coordination:
- manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met
- assist in the preparation of project documentation, including specifications and reports
- conduct regular reviews of designs to identify potential issues or improvements
- fully understanding the project budget and ensuring all costs involved are accounted for
- maintain an organised library of CAD files and documentation for easy access by team members
Qualifications:
- proven experience as a CAD technician/architectural designer with minimum two years’ experience within a similar Design & Build consultancy, kitchen, joinery or woodworking business
- proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp is essential. Knowledge of Photoshop would be beneficial
- good understanding of joinery techniques, materials and construction processes
- exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work
- ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing individual tasks effectively
- strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey technical information clearly
- commercial awareness and understanding of project budgets
- a diploma, degree or certification in CAD, architectural design or a related field required
