Position: Permanent
Salary: £45-55k DOE

KIBRE is an interior design studio based in London and Surrey. We work across a range of disciplines including, but not limited to, residential, commercial and built-to-rent properties. Our scope includes the design, selection and sourcing of vintage items, to carry out the interior design, styling and installation of projects.
We are looking for a highly competent and experienced senior FF&E designer to join our expanding team and take responsibility for designing, sourcing and procuring the furniture, fittings and equipment (FF&E) on all projects. KIBRE has an office on the Southbank in London with the HQ based in rural Surrey, where the role will be primarily based but nationwide travel will be required to visit projects.
Key responsibilities:
- leading and creating initial FF&E concept designs, having fully understood the project brief and obtained all relevant information
- specifying FF&E on all projects and creating FF&E schedules with accurate costs
- coordinating specification with the drawing packages
- procuring all FF&E and taking responsibility for purchase orders, specification sheets and control books
- creating physical and digital mood boards using InDesign
- attending meetings and presenting FF&E concepts to clients
- taking client leads where required
- ensuring regular and open communication with internal and external teams and suppliers
- working with the wider team in the spatial planning and design of each project
- sourcing and researching new suppliers, ascertaining suitability and developing KIBRE’s supplier database
- negotiating, coordinating and liaising with suppliers to ensure that all specifications and deliveries are meeting deadlines and on budget
- overseeing the installation of projects, ensuring accessories and styling requirements are met and overseeing professional photography, where required
- liaising with our project management and installation teams to ensure smooth delivery and installation of the projects
- ensuring that the FF&E library/sample area is managed and maintained
- Working to deliver on KIBRE’s sustainability policy
- assisting in the general day to day running of the company, as required
- the senior FF&E designer will report to the design director on tasks and deliverables and line manage one FF&E designer
Essential qualities and skills required:
- an industry-recognised diploma or degree in interior design, interior architecture or architecture
- proven experience working on both residential and hospitality focused projects
- an extensive knowledge of, and relationships with, the suppliers of contract furniture
- in-depth knowledge of products, materials and suppliers
- general knowledge of interior architecture with the ability to read and understand technical drawings, including furniture shop drawings
- proven experience in project management (budgeting, scheduling, etc.)
- ability to differentiate the needs of different ‘styles’ and ‘looks’ and deliver those styles without letting personal preferences impact choices
- ability to understand and formulate design decisions and present for discussion
- ability to use a variety of media in the development and documentation of a design project
- self-motivated with the ability to take responsibility and use initiative to finding solutions and alternatives as problems arise
- ability to demonstrate discretion with sensitive and confidential information
- excellent organisational skills and the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines efficiently
- good interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- has a flexible approach to work and willing to assist the wider design team when needed
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- able to manage junior and intermediate designers on the team
- competent in MS Office, AutoCAD, PhotoShop, Illustrator and InDesign
- legal right to work in the UK
Desirable skills:
- understanding of the financial aspects of running a design project on time and on budget
- experience in lighting as a design element – knowledge of how to use lighting and shadows for drama and impact
- experience using Estimac
