Laura Hammett is a London-based design studio specialising in the interior design of luxury residential property in the UK and abroad.
Role overview
Laura Hammett is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior FF&E Designer to join our dynamic and collaborative team on a fixed-term basis. The successful candidate will have strong conceptual and presentation skills, the ability to manage high-profile projects, and proven experience working on luxury, classical-style projects—ideally with experience in the Middle East. The role requires working closely with the Head of FF&E Design and Creative Director, leading both design and execution stages for a large-scale project. The project is based in the Middle-East and is in the Classical style with some more contemporary areas. This is a 12-month FTC with potential to extend to 18-months or beyond.
Key responsibilities
Design and concept development
The concept is now complete for the project and you will be continuing the design development of the project:
- create unique, detailed bespoke FF&E, ensuring design intent is met through collaboration with manufacturers.
- develop original designs and narratives aligned with company values and client needs
- lead the creation of FF&E detailed design packages from concept to costing, ensuring budget and timeline adherence
Project management and coordination:
- independently manage the project, ensuring smooth communication between clients, suppliers and contractors
- oversee FF&E project management, including budgets, timelines, and technical design documents
- coordinate with procurement to ensure accurate and timely delivery.
Monitor and report project progress to the head of FF&E design and company directors - ensure all FF&E work aligns with the project’s architectural details
Client and supplier engagement:
- build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and manufacturers to ensure expectations are met
- review supplier technical drawings, visit factories, and potentially oversee FF&E installations
- lead client presentations and meetings, ensuring designs meet their needs
Team leadership and mentoring:
- supervise and mentor junior and mid-weight designers on the team when necessary
- inspire creativity within the studio, promoting new suppliers, materials, and design ideas
- maintain the FF&E studio library and support team development
On-site and installation oversight:
- manage on-site FF&E installations, ensuring projects are delivered on time, and resolve any design-related issues
- oversee snagging and quality control to ensure all bespoke pieces meet design briefs and client satisfaction
Candidate requirements
- education – bachelor’s degree in interior design, textile design, or similar
- experience – minimum six to seven years’ of experience in luxury residential interior design
- skills – proficient in Microsoft Office, Vectorworks/AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and budget management software (e.g., Est iMac)
- communication – fluent in spoken and written English with strong visual and verbal communication skills
- location – ideally able to commute to South-West London on a hybrid-working basis
- attributes – proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing complex projects from concept through installation
Desirable:
- experience – working on projects in the Middle East and working with Middle Eastern clients
- style – knowledge of classical design style and ability to be flexible also illustrating other design styles
