Design and project manager (pre-contract phase)

LEMA UK is the UK branch of one of the leading Italian furniture manufacturing companies working in the high-end contract market for multi-apartments, hospitality, and bespoke residential projects. Our contract division provides a full turn-key service primarily to blue-chip contractors and developers within the London area, working alongside the most prestigious architectural and interior design firms.

We are currently seeking an estimator possessing robust design and project management proficiencies. This individual will exclusively operate within the pre-contract phase, collaborating closely with our dynamic team and reporting directly to the head of design and estimating.

The role demands a blend of technical expertise, commercial acumen, and project management skills, making it ideal for an individual seeking to become a well-rounded interior specialist. In addition to proficiency in estimating and design, the role requires adept project management capabilities in the pre-contract phase. This includes the ability to generate project timelines and schedules, effectively manage time constraints and proactively pre-plan projects even before they are awarded.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strategic foresight in anticipating project needs and challenges, ensuring a seamless transition into the contract phase. Primary responsibilities

Tender process:

  • extracting pertinent information from tender packages to delineate the scope of works
  • generating bills of quantities, schedules, and quotations for multiple concurrent projects
  • identifying contractual, logistical, and delivery requirements, including program schedules and construction sequences
  • compiling all requisite documents for tender submissions
  • conducting site surveys and translating findings into CAD drawings when necessary
  • acting as a reliable point of contact for designated clients, facilitating communication via phone, email, or in-person meetings
  • cultivating and maintaining a personal network of client relationships

Business development:

  • crafting bespoke presentations for client meetings
  • offering support during client meetings by preparing minutes and reports
  • maintaining activity trackers and ensuring effective client follow-up
  • generating 2D or 3D renders as needed

Key competencies:

  • bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior/product design, project management or quantity surveying
  • profound understanding of the interior manufacturing industry
  • sound knowledge of the UK construction sector
  • exemplary organizational and time management abilities
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
  • strong command of AutoCAD 2D and 3D software, Rhino and V-ray
  • ability to interpret architectural drawings with precision
  • exceptional problem-solving skills with a penchant for innovative solutions
  • effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • collaborative spirit with adeptness at building relationships with colleagues and clients
  • proactive and adaptable, thriving in fast-paced environments
  • capacity for independent decision-making and initiative
  • quick learner with a proactive attitude towards process improvement
