Linda Boronkay Design Studio is seeking to hire a new junior designer in a full-time capacity in its London studio.
Role overview
As a junior interior designer, you will be an entry-level member of the design team and work under the guidance of more experienced designers.
Key responsibilities:
- assists the design team with research, creating concept mood boards, producing sketches, drawings and schedules
- utilise design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite) to create visual representations of design ideas
- research technical solutions to detail design challenges
- assists in assessing the prototype stages of bespoke pieces with the mid-weight and senior designers
- stays up to date with industry trends, materials and best practices
- manages sourcing to target budgets and timetable on a daily level for materials, furniture and fixtures
- coordinate all aspects of the FF&E procurement and installation with senior designer’s assistance
- able to uphold programmes, work towards deadlines, supporting project leads to successfully project manage at all times
- ensures documents and presentations are filed in accordance to LBDS standards
- assigns project hours to Harvest on a daily level
- monitors their hours spent on projects and alerts project lead and projects director when more time is needed
- assist in sourcing and ordering samples for project specific as well as studio items
- ensures the sample library is well maintained and always presentable in front of visitors and clients
- assist in the collective upkeep of the studio tidiness
- works closely with Purchasing Agent to ensure a smooth purchasing process
- closely monitors and manages supplier’s progress to target deadlines and budget
- able to communicate effectively with project team within and outside of the UK
- attends regular site visits at key stages
- assists at client meetings, creating meeting minutes
- assists FF&E install
Skills and experience required:
- at least two years post-graduate experience in an interior design role in the luxury residential or hospitality sector
- BA degree or equivalent in interior design, furniture design or interior architecture
- full proficiency using AutoCAD, Adobe Creative suite, SketchUp/Rhino and Microsoft Office Suite, ability to produce beautiful hand sketching is a bonus. Experience in using Estimac, Fohlio or other scheduling programme is preferable
- strong knowledge of both interior architecture and FF&E, with the technical understanding to support working across both sides of the business
- basic financial understanding of project costs and budget awareness as well as project programmes and deadlines
- good supplier and product knowledge, including FF&E and finishes as well as broad knowledge of materiality
- fluent in spoken and written English and able to communicate clearly within the studio and with external consultants and clients
- adaptable team player who is passionate about design
- an exceptional eye for detail, colours and knowledge of antiques
