LOFT has a vacancy for a residential interior design manager to join its team in Manchester, UK.

LOFT is seeking a passionate and experienced residential interior design manager for a 12-month maternity cover, starting in August 2024. Role summary

As our residential interior design manager, you will demonstrate a practical, thorough and proactive approach to design development and management. You’ll oversee the entire design process, from project inception to completion and ensure our design department contributes effectively to our revenue channels nationwide. Your expertise will guide and support our design team, a team of seven staff, helping them to excel and deliver outstanding results that align with LOFT’s brand and product ranges.

About the role

Project management:

  • lead concept development and creative outputs for all design projects
  • oversee the design process to ensure timely production and cost-effective solutions
  • report on the design pipeline weekly, monthly and quarterly

Team leadership:

  • mentor, train and support the design team to achieve their goals
  • allocate day-to-day work to interior designers
  • develop and manage team productivity and continuously improve capabilities
  • conduct regular 1:1s, annual appraisals and ensure delivery of KPIs and objectives

Commercial and quality control:

  • ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, ensuring commercial success
  • provide quality control over design outputs and production
  • develop and maintain design function procedures and ensure adherence at all times

Client and stakeholder management:

  • plan and prepare presentations to showcase our design services
  • represent LOFT at networking events, trade exhibitions and conferences
  • liaise with operations teams to ensure smooth delivery of design revenue

Financial and contract management:

  • understand and manage the financial aspects of running a design project
  • develop robust processes for high-spec residential design projects
  • manage and maintain contractual arrangements with subcontractors and clients
  • attend pre-site meetings and sign off on T&Cs of service delivery as required

Innovation and strategy:

  • develop an online strategy for digital interior design requests
  • communicate the interior design department’s performance to the wider business

About you:

  • strong leadership skills with a track record of managing and developing teams
  • exceptional technical and design knowledge, with a good working interpretation of design standards
  • commercial acumen to develop design proposals that maximize efficiency and profitability
  • excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with clients and stakeholders
  • ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Anyone possessing the following experience will be of particular interest:

  • experience in dealing with contractors (payment applications, main contractor discounts and retentions)
  • experience of amenity space design, show homes, private residential and build-to-rent (BTR)
  • experience of order wise accounting package
  • experience of dealing with large construction companies

Please note this role will require UK-wide travel from time to time.
