Maison Arabella is an internationally recognised interior design studio, renowned for creating luxurious and innovative spaces across the residential and commercial sectors. Based in the vibrant design hub of central London, we are seeking a highly experienced senior interior designer with a proven track record in leading residential, commercial, and hospitality projects from concept to completion.

Job description

We are looking for a talented senior designer with extensive experience in both FF&E and interior architecture. The ideal candidate will possess a deep passion for exceptional design and a keen ability to translate briefs into sophisticated conceptual designs. This role demands advanced skills in scheduling, concept design, design development, detailing, space planning, and on-site project management, with a history of successfully leading projects from inception to completion.

As a senior interior designer, you will lead project teams, mentor junior designers, and ensure all work meets the highest standards of quality and creativity. You will be responsible for developing design concepts and presentations, sourcing images, 3D hand sketching, AutoCAD drawings, Photoshop editing, setting up/printing presentation boards, and specifying bespoke furniture, lighting and joinery pieces.

This is a rare opportunity to join a team of six plus designers and be part of a successful and growing studio since its establishment in 2016. In addition to possessing first-rate design skills, you should be confident in liaising with clients and consultants, managing programs and budgets daily. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of projects, ensure deliverables for each phase are completed with high accuracy and in a timely manner, and play a key role in supporting the development of the growing brand identity.

Responsibilities:

  • project leadership – proven experience leading projects from concept creation through to implementation, managing the design process effectively to meet client objectives and constraints
  • team leadership – experience leading design teams, collaborating with colleagues, and liaising between team members and project stakeholders
  • technical skills – strong technical skills, including producing detailed and accurate drawing packages, working with CGI consultants, specifying finishes and materials, reviewing shop drawings, and coordinating with consultants and manufacturers
  • team development – track record of nurturing and supporting junior and middle-weight designers, helping them grow and develop their skills
  • client management: Experience working closely with clients, understanding their needs, and delivering high-quality design solutions
  • relationship building – ability to build and maintain client and supplier relationships, ensuring client satisfaction and fostering partnerships that benefit the studio
  • ensure studio standards – maintain consistent studio standards and filing through all project phases

Skills required:

  • minimum of eight years’ experience in high-end residential/commercial/hospitality projects in the UK and abroad; must have experience completing/delivering projects
  • professional qualification in interior design, interior architecture or architecture
  • demonstrated design acumen, with strong skills in all areas of design and the ability to cross styles (e.g., concept creation, interior architecture, palette creation, and FF&E sourcing)
  • outstanding communication skills, fluent in English, both verbal and written
  • experience leading multiple and diverse projects, ensuring a collaborative approach within the team
  • excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
  • proficient in all design software, 3D skills (hand sketching and 3D software), and ability to produce high-quality presentations (AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop), Rhino and Microsoft Office suite)
  • knowledge of the UK and European supplier market is essential
  • British citizen or appropriate right to work documentation
