Marks Barfield Architects is looking for a Part 2 architectural assistant with a minimum of two years UK experience to join its team in London.

Now on a further highly attuned and exciting journey dedicated to moving beyond sustainability to a regenerative practice – reducing negative impacts on the environment and actively giving back through improvements to building performance, the health and comfort of occupants, and principles that address biodiversity. Our clients are jointly inspired to commit to these aims and we collaborate with them to achieve climate literacy.

Best known as the creators of the London Eye, our diverse portfolio includes a project range from the Kew Gardens Treetop Walkway, the Brighton i360, schools and mixed-use developments, to piers and bridges. Recent projects include the Lantern, London – an exemplar in workplace wellbeing, and the Cambridge Central Mosque – a low embodied carbon mass timber structure with passive design features.

We are based in Clapham, London. A convivial team that likes to celebrate with cake.

You should have:

  • good design and technical skills
  • full proficiency in Revit (you may be required to take a Revit test)
  • understanding (and passion for) ecological design principles, adaptive re-use strategies
  • demonstrable interest in low-carbon design
  • a working knowledge of building regulations
  • at least two years experience working in the UK post Part 1 degree
  • an ability and eye for good graphic design
  • enthusiasm and ideas – we encourage everyone to engage and offer their views
  • interest in working collaboratively – office based
