Join our Communications team!
If you share our enthusiasm and passion for the built environment and are keen to make a difference by helping to publicise the work that we do, then we would love to hear from you.
About us
At Max Fordham our business is the creative, innovative, and elegant design of building services within the construction industry. We work on a rich variety of projects across all building sectors, with offices in Bristol, Cambridge, Edinburgh, London and Manchester. Our portfolio includes award winning, internationally renowned landmark buildings, exemplars of sustainable design and a diverse mix of carefully crafted buildings.
About the role
This role will be a fixed term contract, starting in February 2025 to February 2026.
The PR and digital content manager plays a crucial role in maintaining and strengthening the practice’s outstanding external profile in designing low-energy, sustainable and beautiful buildings.
Working with the communications director and with the support of the communications team, this important role is focused on creating engaging written content, for a variety of uses, to enhance the positioning and reputation of the practice.
The role involves working effectively with brilliant people who have an excellent story to tell, but may have a more limited understanding of the importance of communications and PR.
The public relations and digital content manager will also help to supervise and develop the skills and knowledge of the other communications team members and will be involved in sharing news of our successes with the practice internally.
Key responsibilities:
- promote our impressive portfolio of projects, talented and creative people, and progressive thoughts and ideas
- manage and produce content for our website: project write-ups, news items and blog posts
- manage and produce content for our social media channels: LinkedIn and Instagram
- build strong relationships internally with many of the most senior members of the practice across our five offices
- build strong relationships with journalists and the PR representatives of our collaborators
- liaise with engineers and external PR representatives to draft press releases and articles
- liaise with journalists and event organisers to secure opportunities and coordinate our input
- understand and be aware of sensitivities relating to confidentiality of projects and designs
About you
We are looking for an experienced PR professional with a strong understanding of best practice in PR and communications.
A demonstrable interest in buildings and their design is essential. Experience in a similar role within a design or construction-related firm would be an advantage.
You will be an enthusiastic and creative writer and have exemplary written and verbal skills. You’ll combine strong organisational skills with drive and enthusiasm for planning and managing your own deadlines, time and workload.
You will be diligent, conscientious and resourceful. You will relish new challenges and be determined to see a task through to its conclusion. Being a team-player, having a flexible approach, and being willing to assist colleagues are all essential to the way we work.
We will consider applications on either a full-time or part-time basis (minimum three days per week equivalent).
What we offer
- excellent growth opportunities for your personal and career development in a knowledge driven environment
- mentored support towards professional accreditation
- interesting and technically challenging projects
- an inclusive culture and cooperative environment
