Max Fordham is hiring a public relations and marketing coordinator to join its firm in London.

This is a full-time, permanent position and is available for immediate start.

£30k – £35k depending on experience.

We combine creativity and engineering to design innovative, elegant and sustainable buildings in the UK and overseas. We are building services engineers whose portfolio includes exemplars of sustainable design, award-winning buildings and internationally renowned landmarks. We are a consultancy of approximately 230 employees and partners operating out of five offices within the UK.

About the communications team

The communications team acts as a hub of communications knowledge and expertise in the practice. You will join a small but growing team, based in our London office and working with all five of our offices. The communication team’s aim is to match its communications efforts to the practice’s outstanding professional reputation and impressive portfolio of projects.

The team is involved in all areas of communications including branding, marketing, public relations and sales support. We also work with the human resources team to deliver and manage effective internal communication.

About the role

Working closely with the communications manager on a day-to-day basis, this important role is focused on creating engaging written content, for a variety of uses, to enhance the profile, positioning and reputation of the practice.

The role involves working with people across the whole practice and working effectively with brilliant people who have an excellent story to tell, but may have a more limited understanding of the importance of communications, marketing and PR.

You will also help to supervise the communications assistant and help them develop their skills and knowledge, and will be involved in supporting our internal communications.

Key responsibilities:

  • liaising with press and external communications personnel
  • drafting press releases, blogs, news items and articles
  • managing and producing content for our social media platforms (Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram)
  • compiling write-ups of our projects for use online, in the press and in fee bids
  • proofreading and editing written content provided by engineers
  • tracking project milestones
  • inputting to awards entries
  • coordinating our in-house editorial committee
  • supervising The Max (our internal, monthly newsletter)
  • researching and targeting PR opportunities

About the person

We’re looking for an experienced PR/marketing professional with a strong understanding of best practice in marketing, communications and PR. A demonstrable interest in buildings and their design is essential. Experience in a similar role within a design or construction-related firm would be an advantage.

You will be an enthusiastic and creative writer and have exemplary verbal and written skills. You’ll combine strong administrative and organisational skills with drive and enthusiasm for planning and managing your own time and workload.

The successful candidate will be diligent, conscientious and resourceful. They will relish new challenges and be determined to see a project through to its conclusion. Being a team-player, having a flexible approach and being willing to assist colleagues are all essential to the way we work.

Confidence in using InDesign is a must. Knowledge of Photoshop would be an advantage.
