Max Lamb has an opportunity for a mid-senior designer-maker to join its team in London, UK.
Max Lamb is a British furniture designer and maker who combines traditional, often primitive, production methods with digital design. He is known for employing unusual approaches to using materials both natural and manmade.
A high level of skill working with multiple materials and production methods is essential. The successful candidate should have experience in project management, running a workshop/studio and capable of managing a small team.
This is a mid-senior role and applications not showing the necessary skills or experience won’t be reviewed.
Job Description
Working closely alongside Max the successful candidate will have the ability to manage complex projects from conception to completion; design, development, prototyping, production, cataloguing, logistics.
The role will include:
- furniture production and fabrication with a knowledge of using a variety of materials including wood, metal, fabric and plastics
- workshop & studio management including machinery/tool maintenance, costing and ordering of materials and managing other assistants
- project management including design development, modelling & prototyping, computer aided design and presentation building
Experience, skills and qualifications:
- experienced, high level of making skill and knowledge of various materials and fabrication techniques including woodworking machinery and metalworking such as TIG welding
- extensive knowledge and ability in using and maintaining common workshop tools and equipment safely
- minimum 5 years experience working in a workshop environment
- high proficiency in at least one CAD software such as Vectorworks or Rhino and Adobe Creative Suite
- excellent communication skills and an innate ability to transform ideas into reality
