Office S&M Architects is hiring an architect to join its team in London.
Office S&M Architects are looking for a thoughtful and enthusiastic architect to join our growing team in London.
We are currently working on a wide range of exciting projects, from community-focused schemes to one-off residential homes, which you would directly be involved with and lead. As a small and collaborative studio, you will be involved in all aspects of the practice – from early design stages through to detailing and delivery.
We’re looking for someone with experience across all RIBA stages, who wants to get stuck in on site. Confidence in working across a range of software, including Revit and AutoCAD is desirable. This is a key role in the studio, with responsibility for the smooth running of projects, including design development and direct communication with clients.
The role
You will have responsibility to run residential projects and community buildings through detailed design and on to site with support from the team and directors. This will include the preparation of technical drawings for planning, tender, and construction, liaising with other consultants and preparing schedules and specification writing. You will manage team members and consultants while attending management, client and design team meetings, and assisting with site queries, visits, and documentation during construction.
We’re looking for someone with:
- experience working on UK residential projects
- exceptional design and technical skills at this scale
- excellent design and graphic ability, particularly with regards to planning and technical documentation
- highly organised, in order to plan your own time and the programme for consultants and clients, in order to meet deadlines
- experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Affinity, MS Office, NBS Chorus, Enscape is desirable
- a thorough understanding of UK building regulations
- a good understanding of contract administration
- confidence in liaising directly with clients and contractors
- able to maintain positive working relations with other colleagues and communicate effectively and negotiate with the design team and clients
- strong problem-solving skills and sound construction knowledge

- the role is full-time with 3 to 4 days in the studio and one or two days working from home per week with a start date in May/June 2025
