We are looking for an architectural design project leader with extensive experience (seven plus years) in international high-end residential and hospitality projects. We are actively engaged in projects in Switzerland, the Mediterranean and other sites across Europe.
Oppenheim is located at Basel’s Creative Hub, the Dreispitzareal – where you will join a unique team of 40 people from over 21 nations and participate in extraordinary projects. With our office in Miami and within our multicultural team, we exchange ideas in English. Position overview
As design project leader, you will oversee all aspects of architectural projects, from conception to completion, with a focus on design excellence, innovation and client satisfaction.
You are responsible for leading a team of architects and designers, managing project timelines and budgets and ensuring that the design vision is successfully translated into built form.
Key responsibilities:
- providing creative direction and leadership to the design team, guiding them in developing innovative and conceptually strong design solutions
- leading the conceptualisation and development of architectural design concepts that respond to the project brief, site context, and client requirements
- collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and contractors, to integrate various design inputs and ensure alignment with project goals
- overseeing the development of architectural drawings, plans and specifications, ensuring that the design intent is accurately translated into detailed documentation
- conducting regular design reviews and critiques to maintain design quality, consistency, and adherence to project objectives and standards
- conducting research on emerging trends, technologies, materials, and best practices in architecture and design to inform and enrich design solutions
- engaging with clients throughout the design process to understand their vision, preferences and feedback, and to ensure that design proposals meet or exceed their expectations
- monitoring project progress, and ensuring that design deliverables are completed on time and within budget
- identifying potential design risks and challenges, developing mitigation strategies and proactively addressing issues to minimise project disruptions and delays
- encouraging a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the design team, fostering creativity, collaboration and professional growth
Key requirements:
- master’s degree in architecture
- ability to inspire and motivate team members, delegate tasks effectively and foster collaboration and creativity within the design team
- excellent communication skills to effectively convey design concepts, present proposals to clients, and coordinate with consultants, contractors and other stakeholders
- building and maintaining positive relationships with clients by understanding their needs, addressing their concerns and delivering designs that exceed their expectations
- strong project management skills to plan, organise, and execute architectural projects, including budgeting, scheduling and resource allocation
- capacity to identify and address design challenges and constraints, finding innovative solutions that balance aesthetic aspirations with practical requirements
- comprehensive understanding of building codes, regulations, construction methods, materials and building systems to ensure that designs are technically feasible and compliant
- working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors, to integrate various design inputs and ensure project success
- meticulous attention to detail to ensure that design documentation is accurate and comprehensive and that the design intent is faithfully executed during construction
- keeping abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and materials in architecture and design, and incorporating innovative ideas into design solutions to push the boundaries of creativity and sustainability
- proficiency in Archicad, Rhino, 3DS Max, and Adobe Suite beneficial
- experience managing project budgets, schedules, and resources
- EU/EFTA passport/Swiss work permit
