Technical designer
at Out of Order Design

Out of Order Design is seeking a technical designer to join its team in London.

Out of Order Design is a creative consultancy and fabrication studio based in London. We’re a multidisciplinary practice made up of a collaborative group of designers and makers working across the fields of design and craft, architecture and installation. Between garden studios, public exhibitions, bespoke furniture, mezzanine living pods to vehicle conversions, we have always prided ourselves on our diverse range of work.

We’re looking for a creative person to join our design team. The successful candidate will be able to deliver on the following areas:


  • design and develop concepts from a wide range of briefs
  • liaise with clients and provide project progress updates
  • quoting jobs and updating designs to meet budgets
  • create easy to understand technical drawings for the workshop team to build from
  • model concepts to scale in Rhino and create visuals for clients/presentations
  • ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget

Essential experience/qualities:

  • confidently present, pitch and convey ideas to clients as well as team members
  • design for fabrication and can confidently brief our workshop build team.
  • can put together clear, well formatted concepts and presentations
  • high level of Rhino proficiency
  • excellent problem solving skills
  • previous experience working in an design studio is required
  • ability to anticipate and pre-empt a project’s needs and requirements
  • excellent project management, planning and organisational skills
  • knowledge of FF&E products, finishes and suppliers
