Pininfarina is looking for an industrial designer to join its team in Milan or Turin, Italy.
With a rich heritage in design excellence, Pininfarina has expanded its expertise into product design over the last 40 years.
Pininfarina is currently looking for an industrial designer with a minimum of five years’ experience to join its practice either in Milan or Turin, Italy. The candidate will embody a blend of expertise in industrial design and creative engineering. In this position, they will build products and machines, designing new manufacturing and fabrication processes that enable the realisation of innovative materials, technologies, prototypes and products.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- collaborate with the design team and the client to understand the client’s challenge and validate solutions with stakeholders or users
- translate user insights and design intuitions into concepts and sketches
- iterate sketches into rapid 3D models to assess volume, proportion and ergonomics
- develop and manage design phase activities and deliverables to address the client’s challenge
- deliver design solutions considering technical feasibility and partner with potential suppliers for innovative solutions
- effectively communicate with clients, balancing design vision, business objectives and client satisfaction
Required education and experience:
- proven industry experience in industrial design, with a strong preference for experience in consumer electronics, sport equipment, connected objects, or interior design
- demonstrated ability to create elegant, refined and simple designs that are technically feasible, as evidenced by a strong portfolio
- extensive experience in the entire design process, from research to production
- exceptional 3D modelling skills in Rhino and Grasshopper for designing complex volumes and controlling surfaces. Proficiency in parametric software (e.g: Creo, SolidWorks) is a plus
- strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively interact with the engineering team and to contribute to the project’s pre-feasibility phase
- self-motivated and results-oriented with the ability to independently manage workload, prioritise tasks and identify new opportunities
- collaborative team player open to feedback and able to provide constructive input to colleagues
- fluency in English
