Planit Consulting is hiring an architectural technician to join its team in Surrey, UK.

Salary £28-32K plus benefits (subject to experience).

Planit Consulting is looking for a trained architectural technician to join our 12-person, multi-disciplinary team at our beautiful canalside offices in the centre of Godalming.

You will work directly with the in-house architectural consultant and planning consultants on a variety of projects to the planning stage. The core work will be the design and drafting of scheme drawings for planning applications, certificates of lawfulness, prior approval and listed building consent, site and building surveys, and property appraisals.

As a company, we specialise in planning, property advice and architectural design for sites and properties within AONB, AGLV, national parks and Greenbelt. We operate in one of the wealthiest parts of the UK and boast a prestigious client base across the residential, commercial, agricultural, sports and leisure, and film sectors.

The position allows for some degree of flexibility in hours worked and some remote work with scope to build an in-depth knowledge of design for sensitive sites, the UK planning system and property market awareness.

The package includes a competitive salary, up to 20 days annual leave (dependent on hours), a break between Christmas and New Year and a range of benefits including pension contributions, HR and wellness support, and company social events.

The candidate:

  • must have a minimum of five years’ experience working in the UK and be able to demonstrate ability and experience by way of work examples/portfolio and references from UK employers
  • good working knowledge of AutoCAD  (SketchUp and Photoshop preferable) and a tidy and concise drafting style
  • working knowledge of the UK planning system, building regulations and standards, particularly for residential projects
  • good knowledge of traditional building and construction techniques
  • confident and patient client manner
  • a practical thinker with an intuitive approach and ability to see the bigger picture
  • be happy working in a fast-paced office environment as part of a larger team
  • ability to work remotely and on-site; conducting site and building surveys
  • a clean UK driving license and use of your own vehicle would be beneficial.
