Price & Myers is seeking a communications manager to join its team in London.

About the role

We’re on the hunt for a communications manager to help share the Price & Myers story, both externally and internally. Based in our London studio, you’ll need a friendly outlook and a service-driven approach. The communications manager will provide a critical level of support and direction to the communications team.

About us

Price & Myers is a structural engineering practice, established by Sam Price and Robert Myers in 1978. Over nearly five decades, we’ve completed a huge range of projects, from Stirling Prize winners to the more modest, and everything in between. We are designers who help architects and clients bring their vision to life with elegant and efficient engineering. There are about 160 of us across our five studios in London, Oxford, Nottingham, Manchester and Bristol.

The principal skills, qualities and responsibilities of the communications manager are as follows

The team:

  • manage and support the communications team in their work and help them to further develop their skills
  • plan and agree timeframes and targets, ensuring deadlines are met

Communications planning:

  • work with the partners and associates to identify significant projects and manage the production of material for use on our website, social media channels, award entries, bids, CVs, and our internal and external newsletters
  • practice-to-practice networking including identifying opportunities for the P&M team to attend, encouraging attendance and assisting with briefings

Bids and winning new work:

  • work closely with partners, associates and other members of the communications team to identify new work opportunities
  • collate relevant information for bids, competitions and other submissions
  • work closely with external collaborators to ensure relevant, high-quality information is provided within agreed timeframes
  • support other members of the Communications Team responsible for putting together bids

Website, social media, newsletters

Sourcing and producing external content throughout our external communication platforms

Oversee and support communications team in:

  • delivering updates to our website with relevant project and practice news
  • developing our social media platforms as an engagement tool, to better tell the Price & Myers story
  • producing our internal and external newsletters

Networking and events organisation:

  • manage our programme of external, and occasionally internal, events and networking initiatives. These can be both professionally and socially focused events
  • manage and support the team with the organisation and logistics to ensure success and maximum impact for our events
  • follow-up with attendees where relevant
  • attend events as necessary

Marketing and awards:

  • manage the awards programme, ensuring that technical staff are aware of deadlines for award submissions
  • oversee the preparation of award submissions
  • ensure all award entries, shortlists and wins are recorded and publicised appropriately internally and externally
  • ensure journals are regularly reviewed and all Price & Myers projects/mentions are entered onto the database
  • review sector journals and share industry developments and trends

Press:

  • provide wider design teams with information to support their project PR campaigns
  • deal with press enquiries where relevant
  • develop relationships with sector press and media channels

Note

Hours for the role are standard practice hours – 9am to 5.30pm. There is flexibility with start/finish times, and a work from home day. There will be occasions where extracurricular time may be needed (bid deadlines, or industry events) but it’s anticipated that these will be uncommon.
