Senior interior designer

RB Holdings is seeking a senior interior designer to join its team in London.

An newly created opportunity has arisen for a senior interior designer to join a creative and dynamic design team based in central London. This role offers the chance to work on prestigious hospitality projects, ranging from luxury membership clubs to high-end food and beverage venues. You will collaborate with our founder, creative directors, and multiple contractors and creatives in a fast-paced, innovative environment. A large degree of proactiveness and initiative will be required to be successful in this role, managing multiple workstreams.

Design and creative management:

  • support the development of the plans and elevations during the design concept development working with the senior designer and the design management team (DMT).

Client Ccnsultation:

  • meeting with clients and or artiste in residence (AiR) to understand their needs, preferences
  • understanding the client’s brief and senior staff’s vision for the project and implementing it into the concept design
  • support the development of the design concept working closely with the creative directors and founder
  • support the efforts in establishing the materiality for projects. Suggesting appropriate materials and finishes, using the individuals experience / knowledge of different suppliers
  • support the efforts in maintaining Robin Birley Clubs’ Stylistic Design Standards
  • support presentation of ideas and concepts to the founder and project teams
  • material selection: selecting and specifying furnishings, fabrics, lighting, and other materials

Design documentation:

  • taking responsibility for the production of all drawings for the project, including full construction, legal and planning drawing packages

Design development

  • creating design concepts, mood boards, and detailed plans (2D and 3D) using design software. Also developing the AiR concepts through to workable material for architects and procurement
  • assisting with the concept design and presentation by helping with image sourcing, 3D sketching and modelling, Photoshop editing and setting up/printing presentation boards and booklets
  • compiling and promptly issuing meeting minutes
  • understanding the projects Health & Safety procedures and ensuring the correct documentation is complete

Presentation and communication:

  • presenting design proposals to clients and communicating effectively with all stakeholders

Design project management:

  • understanding the project timelines and the project teams’ deliverables
  • support the creative director and project team with site visits and meetings with contractors, consultants and potentially clients

Project Management:

  • overseeing timelines, budgets, and coordinating with contractors and other professionals
  • problem solving: addressing any issues that arise during the project
  • space planning: optimising the use of interior space to create functional and aesthetically pleasing environments
  • colour and material selection: choosing appropriate colours, materials, and finishes to create a cohesive and visually appealing space
  • lighting design: selecting and specifying lighting fixtures and systems to enhance the functionality and ambience of the space
  • furniture and decor: selecting and specifying furniture, accessories, and decorative elements to complement the overall design
  • sustainability: considering environmentally friendly materials and practices in the design process

Compliance:

  • ensuring designs comply with safety regulations and building codes and accessibility standards

Creativity and design skills:

  • strong visual design skills, including the ability to create 2D and 3D designs

Technical proficiency:

  • proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp), as well as basic architectural knowledge
  • communication and interpersonal skills: excellent communication, presentation and collaboration skills

Project management skills:

  • strong organisational, time management, and problem-solving skills, proactive

Knowledge of materials and construction:

  • understanding of materials, finishes, and construction processes

Business acumen:

  • ability to understand market trends

Adaptability:

  • ability to adapt to changing client needs and project requirements

Education and experience:

  • a degree in interior design or interior architecture, and relevant experience
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000
