Role description

The senior lighting and spatial designer plays a key role in delivering innovative and visually compelling lighting designs across live events, fashion shows, and touring music productions. Working with the design team, you will lead projects from concept to execution, blending creativity with technical expertise and strong client communication. We welcome candidates from diverse design backgrounds who bring a broad understanding and interest in aesthetic, architectural, and spatial design – key to developing effective lighting solutions for our projects. This role includes international travel and opportunities to work on high-profile productions.

The role requires full eligibility to work in the UK and must be based in London. You will be expected to work from our King’s Cross office approximately three days per week, with an average of two days worked remotely. This arrangement may vary depending on specific project or on-site requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • conceptualise and execute lighting designs tailored to client briefs, focusing on both aesthetics and technical integration
  • lead projects from pitch to delivery, managing timelines, budgets, and creative standards
  • produce CAD drawings, technical specifications and visualisations
  • coordinate on-site delivery, installations, rehearsals and live events
  • attend client meetings, site visits, and production meetings
  • resolve creative and technical challenges efficiently
  • act as the main client contact throughout project life cycles, both remotely and on-site
  • develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and collaborators
  • prepare pitches, proposals and quotations
  • contribute to new business development and identify new opportunities through networking and industry events
  • select and brief technical suppliers and crew
  • monitor project progress and manage changes, ensuring accurate client communication and cost tracking
  • support director with wider business activities and contribute to process improvement

Skills:

  • minimum ten years’ experience in lighting design/production
  • proficient in Vectorworks and related CAD software
  • strong design skills with a keen eye for detail and innovation
  • proven ability to lead projects and teams in high-pressure environments
  • excellent communication and presentation skills
  • strong commercial awareness and ability to manage budgets
  • flexible, self-motivated, and able to work independently
  • willing to travel internationally and work non-standard hours
  • numerate and IT literate, with the ability to produce and manage proposals and budgets
  • professional demeanour with strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail
