Joinery designer and project manager

Richard Cullinan Joinery is hiring a joinery designer and project manager to join its team in London.

We are a small friendly studio, based in Putney. We are looking for a full-time, permanent junior or mid-weight joinery designer and project manager.

Please note, previous experience of designing joinery a bonus, but not required, training will be provided. An interest in interiors and design background is crucial. Knowledge of cabinet making skills and techniques is not required.

Day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • creating joinery designs and drawing these in AutoCAD
  • updating and amending drawings
  • meeting clients and communicating with them by phone and email
  • liaising with interior designers, architects, the team in our workshop, suppliers and sub-contractors
  • going on-site visits, carrying out measured site surveys
  • visiting our workshop and checking the progress of joinery during production
  • overseeing our fitting team, including setting up, reviewing progress and checking their work at the completion of the installation
  • drafting quotes and invoices
  • managing project paperwork, including tracking costs
  • procurement, some items will require collection from local suppliers and delivery to site

Our ideal designer and project manager will:

  • have a degree in architecture, interior design, product design or similar
  • have a positive and can-do attitude
  • be highly organised with excellent attention to detail and be able to prioritise and delegate work to the team
  • be able to follow instructions and able to use their own initiative
  • be highly motivated and able to work unsupervised, but also able to work collaboratively as part of a team including with interiors designers, architects, contractors and sub-contractors
  • be articulate with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • understand design/tender packages and architectural drawings
  • have strong IT skills and be able to confidently use Word, Excel, Outlook and AutoCAD
  • have a full, clean driving licence and right to work in UK
  • have photography skills as a bonus

Full-time role: 40 hours per week
Hours: 8:30am to 5pm (with 30 mins lunchbreak)
Location: Putney, London
Salary: £32,000-£37,000 depending on experience
