Part 2 Architectural Assistant for 3 months

ROAR is seeking a Part 2 Architectural Assistant (for 3 months) with private residential experience to join its London team.

We are an architecture and interiors design studio dedicated to creating bold and playful architecture that pushes boundaries. We specialise in retrofit projects and firmly believe in prioritising retrofit over demolition and rebuild.

Responsibilities

Design – Assist in the preparation of design proposals, drawings, 3D modelling, visualisations and presentation materials.

Client Liaison – Attending client meetings and contribute to ongoing communication to ensure designs reflect client needs and expectations

Planning – Prepare and submit planning applications, including drawings, Design & Access Statements and supporting documentation.

Developed Design – Holistic development of the design including initial coordination of structure, services, GAs, and key technical details, with support from senior members of the team.

Technical Drawings & Detailing – Produce accurate technical drawings in accordance with building regulations and industry standards, under the guidance of an Architect or Senior Architect.

Coordinating Consultants – Assist in checking and coordinating consultants’ information, obtaining quotes and supporting design team meetings.

Construction – Attend site visits and progress meetings, help resolve on-site queries and liaise with contractors.

Sustainability & Regulations – Stay informed on relevant building regulations, sustainability design solutions, and best practices to ensure compliant and innovative design work.

Time & task management, fees – Work efficiently within timeframes and fee structures. Plan and manager your weekly tasks to support project progress and meet deadlines.

Professionalism & Standards – Maintain clear records of client decisions and design development. Submit up-to-date timesheets and ensure work is clearly documented.

Requirements / Skills

RIBA Part 2 qualified with a minimum of 2 years experience in a UK private residential practice
Excellent design and visual communication skills across multiple software packages
Proficient in AutoCAD, Sketchp, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop)
Knowledge of UK planning policy (especially London boroughs) and Building Regulations
Experience in preparing tender and construction packages
