Robert Angell Design International is hiring an FF&E designer to join its team in London.

A mid/senior-level FF&E designer is required to join our dynamic studio in London. You will be joining an amazing team and have the opportunity to work on prestigious commercial FF&E projects for high-profile clients across the globe. We are a multi-award-winning studio with an extensive portfolio of luxury hotels, restaurants and bars. Knowledge about the hospitality sector is key. We are looking for an FF&E designer who shares our passion and vision on luxury bespoke interiors and has an exceptional eye for detail. You will also be driven, motivated and possess a can-do attitude to create beautiful spaces for our clients. You would be working in our FF&E department, together with the rest of the studio team of interior designers and technicians. You will be responsible for running and handing over fast-paced commercial projects, often within a very tight time frame in addition to working on existing large-scale projects at various stages. We do not procure, which allows for more creativity in producing bespoke FF&E items.

This is a full-time position and is studio based.

Responsibilities:

  • designing and sourcing FF&E from concept through to finished details
  • creating FF&E specification schedules and materials boards
  • sourcing exceptional object, art, antiques and artefacts
  • building relationships with suppliers, sourcing and researching new suppliers
  • designing furniture joinery sketches/drawings
  • preparing FF&E cost documents and reviewing quotations where required
  • reviewing and approving shop drawings
  • reviewing, commenting and approving prototypes and samples
  • producing client presentations
  • managing FF&E budget if required on projects
  • responsible for value engineering FF&E items when needed
  • attending site meetings and assisting in the process of reviewing the project
  • liaising with contractors and suppliers to ensure FF&E is delivered on time and within budget
  • overseeing styling and installation of projects
  • lead projects from concept to completion
  • proficient in Photoshop, InDesign and AutoCAD
  • minimum five plus years of relevant experience in luxury hospitality projects
  • degree/diploma in interior design or equivalent
  • English fluency required
  • responsive, self-motivated and team player with great solution-finding skills
  • passion for design, detailing and fabrication
  • client-facing externally and managing team internally
  • FF&E material and furnishing proposals including specification and coordination

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • exceptional communication skills with clients, the wider consultant team and within the studio
  • proven experience in project management
  • ability to establish logical action plans to complete work and provide sound solutions within deadline and budget constraints
  • ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • exceptional time management skills
  • ability to coordinate a team of people where required to work towards a common goal
  • in-depth knowledge of materials, products and suppliers
  • undergraduate or graduate degree in interior design
  • minimum of five years’ experience in luxury commercial interiors and in a similar role
  • high proficiency in AutoCAD and Adobe software for the production of drawings, mood boards and presentation material, knowledge in any 3D rendering software is a plus
  • ability to work independently and take initiative in identifying and resolving problems utilising sound judgement and reasoning skills
  • has a flexible approach to work and is willing to assist the wider design team when needed
  • strong communication and negotiation skills, must be able to stand up for our design throughout the process without losing the final vision
  • excellent written and spoken English
  • must have legal rights to work in the UK
