Role overview

The product design team is currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented design product assistant to support the product manager. This role offers valuable experience and opportunities for growth in the design industry. As a design product assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the product design team by assisting with creative projects, managing administrative tasks and aiding in the technical execution of product launch. Your contributions will be essential in bringing our design visions to life. By working closely with the department on various projects, you will gain practical skills and insights, paving the way for a successful career in design.

Contract type: fixed term contract (six to nine months)

Hours: full-time, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 6 pm
Location: Radnor Studio, 13 Radnor Walk, London, SW3 4BP
Experience: zero to two years

Key responsibilities

The role involves working closely with all members of the RU product range team and helping wherever the resources are needed. Primarily supporting the product manager in the creation of technical specifications for the Rose Uniacke Editions range.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • providing technical assistance with the use of CAD drawings, Solidwork models and Adobe Suite/Photoshop
  • organising and filing all product associated files and digital assets within product folders
  • compiling and filing existing stock product photography and editing where necessary
  • creation of basic outline CAD drawings of products to illustrate key dimensions using a given template
  • creation of human scale drawings, inserting products to illustrate the scale of the Editions range using a given template
  • creation of instruction/assembly manuals for lighting and possible furniture
  • compiling and maintaining key documentation and data input for quality control of the Edition range
  • maintaining Editions image library
  • participate in design team meetings

Skills required:

  • CAD Drawing: good university proficiency in design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, AutoCAD, Solidworks or similar tools to create graphics, layouts and visual elements
  • organising and maintaining files, documents and design assets
  • have a strong sense of creativity and have a keen aesthetic eye
  • a good level of hand sketching would be beneficial
  • excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • able to work under pressure and keep to deadlines
  • Mac and iCloud user

Qualifications required:

  • bachelor’s degree in product design or a related field is preferred
  • proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or relevant design software
  • portfolio demonstrating relevant design and administrative work
